KQQB 1520 is now Radio Libertad

Well KQQB has been off the air for a while. A couple weeks ago it was still Radio Libertad, the other day it was down and now it's still down. Guess they gave up on the LMA or something?

I don't think they were doing an LMA. I think the owners of KQQB just needed some programming because all they had was a loop of christian spanish music playing over and over. I think they cut a deal to air the satellite programming of Radio Libartad.

Found this on their Facebook page:

Queremos agradecerle y darle la bienvenida a KQQB 1520 AM en San Antonio, Texas por ahora estar transmitiendo nuestro programa satelite atra vez de su emisora.

When translated:

We thank and welcome KQQB 1520 AM in San Antonio, Texas by now be transmitting satellite atra our program instead of your station.

Maybe the owners are having transmitter issues or just gave up on the station entirely. lol

If that were my station I'd load a bunch of my favorite tunes into a computer with an ID every hour and just let it run.

KQQB is back now, Spanish Christian (probably Libertad again).

KQQB is off the air again. I'm actually picking up KYND pretty decently. That's a long way away for it to make it into San Antonio.

KQQB isn't supposed to be on at night. Are you tuning in during the day?

Has to be. KYND is a daytimer, although a pretty powerful one at 25 kilowatts.

I tuned in during the day and it was off the air. Still is as of this posting but Mediafrog is correct about the owners of KQQB cheating/breaking the rules. I've heard them at night a few times.

Well KQQB is back right now at night. :p

I wonder if Radio Libertad knows about KQQB cheating / bending or breaking the rules. If they do they should make KQQB set a timer or something to turn the transmitter off at night if they keep forgetting.

I haven't heard KQQB on in a long time.
Seems they're in the same mindset as KHHL, just leave it down.

Maybe Radio Libertad can rent out KQQB again since it has new owner. I've read the new owner is actually a nice guy.
