KQQK 107.9

This station must have the most powerful signal in the whole USA. I can catch this station from southwest of Lake Jackson, Texas all the way into --> East of Lake Charles, in Iowa, Louisiana.

I'm listening here in Lake Charles and the signal is much more powerful than the stations that come out of Beaumont/Orange.

Just think how far this station travels during Tropo interference.

It indeed covers a lot of real estate, but once you get west of Katy or north of Cypress 107.9 is lost pretty quickly. Of course, if you count simulcast partner KXGJ from Bay City, "El Norte" can be heard from Cuero,Tx. to Louisiana.

740 I can get 740 in Austin with static day time with a good car radio
93.3 Austin one time I was goin to San Antonio was about 50miles east I was able to get 93.3 with now problems also able to get it 6yrs ago in Waco with no problems

Along Hwy 290 the 107.9 signal, and the other eastern rimshots, are listenable to Hempstead, then start fading on the stretch to Brenham. Reception in Brenham is extremly spotty, and dependent on tropo conditions.

The northern reach of the eastern rimshots along I-45 is almost the same as the Missouri City sticks.

On I-10, KQQK's signal is covered by LPFM KBCP (Brookshire) between Katy and Sealy. West of Sealy you begin to hear KQQK again but it is pretty much gone by the time you get to Columbus. Of course YMMV with tropo levels.

I vote either KTHT or KHPT as best Houston signal. KTHT almost always shows up in the Lake Charles Arbs from even while 120 air miles from the tower, while I can pickup KHPT in Lafayette almost any time without any tropo or other enhancement on my cars radio. Both stations make it pretty far west too, as best I can remember.

Most of the Houston stations die at Columbus like KODA and KRBE the minute you cross the SH 71 East exit on I-10.

I have poor luck trying to receive KHPT in Meyerland (inside the loop, 610 @ Beechnut). I'm on a second floor apartment even, it seems to be pretty good line of sight but stereo always adds a bit of static to the sound. Manually choosing mono (if I can) improves the quality. Tower is about 45-50 miles away I think.

Still, I'll listen to KHPT over other stations.

I could receive KHPT real well in Sharpstown. Maybe too close the Antenna farm? 103.7 however I couldn't but could hear it in a car.

I fooled around with the antenna and duct taped it to the TV and now 106.9 comes in great with stereo. 103.7 is complete static/noise though like it doesn't even exist. Comes in fine in a car.

94.5 though - I was in San Antonio last night, parked at a Walmart, and was receiving The Buzz 94.5 with RDS and everything really clear - got on I-10 back towards Houston and it was gone until I got closer in. I guess the Walmart was on a hill, although no other Houston stations came in at this location, I tried all of them and just got noise or other stations.

The warmer weather is probably helping tropo conditions to pick up.

Also keep in mind that most San Antonio FM stations are either co-channel or first adjacent to Houston stations, which would block reception.

I have been able to pick up 94.5 The buzz on a clock radio in New Braunfels i thought that was pretty impressive.
