KQQK having technical difficulties

Today in the afternoon KQQK was having technical issues. The signal would drop and pop back up. It is now 10:00 P.M. and the issue seems to only gotten worst. Now the signal completely drop and last up to 5 seconds of air.

This is my pointless post for the night. Goodnight and Merry Christmas.

That’s interesting. Years ago, when the calls were KWIC and it was a totally different format, they had similar problems. This was when the studios were still in Beaumont but in this case the transmitter was still live but the feed from the studio would be lost and there would be dead air. I’m sure the equipment has been updated since then.

Merry Christmas to you as well!

Good morning, actually it hasn’t been fixed. On my morning drive they had the same issues.

They have always played some Christmas songs. Both La Raza and El Norte have always played them.

Sounds like they're using some kind of IP Technology to deliver the audio from the studio to the transmitter site and there is lots of buffering going on?

That's definitely not it since KTJM doesn't seem to have any issues at all and they're on the same tower.

Maybe studio issues? What I do wonder is if they outsource their engineering work and the bankruptcy is getting in the way of maintenance work. I know it's Christmas, but this issue has dragged on too long now for it to be blamed on the holidays.

Mike Todd is the engineer at Liberman..the STLs are T1s from studio to tower, well it was out to the old Devers tower.. I'll have to call Mike and see what's up
