Looks like Q101.9 will be starting their christmas music on Wednesday morning at 8AM, according to their website. That would be 3 weeks early for them as they usually start the sunday before Thanksgiving. Wonder why so early this year?
I'll take a swing at that one. Retailers are eager to compete for shopper dollars in an uncertain economy, so holiday ad buys will be more strategic than ever. An all-Christmas station is the most likely to attract shoppers who are focused on the holidays.
I dont listen to the radio much, not even my own station. However I really enjoy when KQXT plays xmas music. Its the only time of year I can actually stand listenting to the radio.
Looking forward to this just like I do every year.
Well seems to me that xmas music is a lot easier to sell this time of year when sales are crappy thanks to the upcoming holidays. And now especially since the economy is garbage as well.
