KQXX McAllen

Yesterday (8/26) Oldies 105.5 flipped from Oldies to Classic Rock now known as "105.5 The X". They appear to be using CC's premium choice during most dayparts except mornings which are being handled by Hot Kiss 106.3's "Hitman". The flip occured around 10am yesterday.

I assume that means the morning crew, Charlie Kennedy, et al, is out of a gig?

Charlie Kennedy does mornings at Entravision KFRQ Q 94.5. The only person that was live was Billy Santiago who did mornings at Oldies 105.5. No word on his status with the station.

Thanks, and apologies to Charlie for forgetting where he works! <grin>

I hope Billy Santiago lands on his feet.

Billy has been on RGV radio since the 80's. It would be a shame if he was let go.

A shame, KQXX was one of the better sounding Oldies stations in TX, much preferred them to KMXR here in Corpus. The Valley Radio dial keeps getting less and less interesting to these ears. I think a major problem for KQXX was that the signal really hit only the McAllen half of the RGV.

does anyone know what is happening with KVNS 1700 AM Brownsville.
What format does it play these days?

They are airing a classic hits format. It isn't locally programmed, but it is almost exactly what KQXX was.

Billy Santiago ( KQXX ) is the Operations Manager there for that Clear Channel Cluster, he took himself off the air to devote more time to handling his other day to day duties for KTEX, KBFM,KHKZ and KVNS along with KQXX.

My parents have a place down at South Padre and I always wished that KQXX would have came in in the lower Valley once and a while I can pick up KMXR in Corpus here in Austin we have no oldies station I have to listen to KONO 860 out of SA

ROck, Roll, And Remember

Wasn't this the only station left that aired Dick Clark's Rock, Roll, and Remember? KUUL from the Quad Cities used to air this program before the 2007 tweak. Is there any other station in the country that airs his classic show (before the merger, that is)?

Not shure seems like maby i've heard it on KMXR 93.9 in Corpus but not exactly shure I mainly listen to KONO in SA on the internet since we don't have an oldies station in Austin anymore.
