KQXY audio on KLVI

For some time now, on KLVI AM 560 in Beaumont, you can hear (at some times very noticeably) KQXY FM 94.1. These stations have different owners (Clear Channel and Cumulus) so it shouldn't be something in the same studio causing this issue. Does anyone have a clue why this continues to occur?

Somebody from both stations might want to get together and check their STL frequencies. They're both pointing east from Beaumont to their respective towers... even a close frequency in somewhat of the same direction can 'bleed' occasionally.

Stan, I haven't noticed any interference from Q 94 on KLVI while driving around Houston, but I have noticed that KLVI's signal doesn't quite penetrate the area like it used to. I wonder if there is any connection between the two?

Stan,
I covered this back in the summer:
http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,75457.msg549733.html#msg549733

It's their EAS receiver audio leaking through to program audio.....and noone bothers to fix it....of course, noone bothers to fix their mic audio problems either.....real professional sounding.....(NOT)

94.1 USED to be KLVI's FM (as KBPO then KQXY and sold to Airwaves out of Baton Rouge in the late 70s)....their STL freqs have not changed in 30+ years...the paths are almost at 90deg to each other....its not the STL....its an audio leakage problem noone takes the time to fix...

Stan, someone at LVI or CC Beaumont must be reading this....or else they got wise!
92.5's audio is not as smashed as it used to be.....still could be better but its not as awful as it used to be!
and listening to Piper this afternoon (and Caldwell in the AM), I could not hear any other audio in the program....and AL actually sounded decent this morning...(even though one spot they ran for CrimeStoppers had Officer Carmen Apple, her real name!, POPPING the mic with her Ps....Puh Puh Puh....someone needs a mic screen and to stand away from the mic ;)

Let me know if you notice LVI's audio sounding any better.....I am listening to Jack mostly anyway (either Houston's or Dallas' via the web: which has a better music choice at lot of times)

Speaking of Jack...I see (hear, actually) they're using that new processing chain combination...the Smash-O-Max, followed by the Distort-O-Max, followed then by the Hammer-Max. Really sound like crap. Too bad they don't understand that overly-processed, way-too-loud audio, won't eliminate the signal problem.

I also noticed that the Jack audio has degraded over the past week or so. I really like Dallas' Jack station and always listen when I'm up visiting my family members up there.

As for KLVI, the station audio seems better here lately. Maybe they're getting ready for Caldwell's retirement and the start of Imus in the morning.

KCOL's audio, while much improved, still needs a little work. I attribute most of the improvement thus far due to the transmitter change performed recently, but I could be wrong.

The Houston Jack does sound a little more compressed.....but I cant say its objectionable (maybe thats where my headaches are coming from?)......KKJK on the web sounds perfect...(except recently when their playback speed SLOOOWWWEED down about 20%...Gawd that was horrible! Took them almost a day to fix it)...I am not sure if they are running a different stream than the on air product (they do pass the TOH ID for the analog AND HD-1 on the stream)...and if they are doing commercial insertions (which they likely are), it sounds just as if they were on air spots...no change in the audio (which 103.7 Houston suffers from on their stream...time for audio leveling of some sort)

I spoke too soon it seems on LVI...heard Q94 in the backgroud last night during Caldwell's show with the lawyers...much lower than usual but still there...the MIC audio does sound better...Caldwell was not sounding grungy as he usually does...

KCOL? They must have turned down the overall mod...its not as loud as it used to be but still sounds too compressed (like the Optimod is turned to MORE all the way ;) They need to lower the compression and then bring the modulation back up....maybe then it will sound like 107.5 Lake Jackson or 92.9 out of Lake Charles..which are MUCH cleaner than 92.5 is..

And the beat goes on............
