KRBE and KLOL?

The rumor is CBS and Cumulus are talking to swap KLOL and KRBE? This would give CBS the pure-play wall of women in the market!

This would also play in the fact that CBS would shed off a new market to Cumulus as a part of a half cash/half trade deal! Maybe that Denver combo?

Does KRBE bill that much more than KLOL?

Great! Then Jack can move to KLOL and then the current 103.7 can become an active rock station.

Maybe double the billing for this year. KRBE is typically 4th to 6th in billings... but this year, who knows.

Not sure I understand the premise. KLOL and KRBE have identical signals (both from the Senior Road tower.) Are we talking about an intellectual property swap? Or just a straight-up, non-cash swap of the stations, which would leave the formats on the current frequencies?

I don't see any reason for Cumulus to do such a deal, unless their ultimate plan is to exit the Houston market. Perhaps KRBE goes to CBS to complete their FM cluster, and Cumulus promptly puts KLOL, KFNC and KHJK on the block?

Mediafrog+ is right, no other reason to do this. I wouldn't want CBS to get KRBE though. CBS is known for ruining heritage here. KILT and KIKK were both country until one bought the other, weakened KIKK until, it had to change...the bad economy and CBS w/KRBE when they already have Hot.....means possibly no more KRBE....and that would be terrible.

And yes that wasn't CBS but they (westinghouse) are in the family tree.......

Didn't have the ballz to start a separate thread on this but anyone on this board from the 1992-1997 era at KRBE? I've got some good memories of those folks. Sound off...
