KRBZ Adds Elliot In The Morning

This is so out of character with everything Audacy has done during the last year. They dropped just about every syndicated show from their radio stations, and replaced them with their own in-house productions. This move is an admission of failure that they can't develop quality talent in their own system. Say what you will about iHeart, but they've managed to create programming that is working.

It also may well be costing them less. I haven’t dealt with iHeart since it became known as iHeart, but stations where I worked that dealt with Premiere got its programming on straight barter.

Also somewhat interesting is that Alt 96.5 was up in the ratings for the first time since it dropped the Buzz and most of its local talent. I don’t have access to the dayparted numbers and I realize there could be other factors, but it does seem interesting that the numbers went significantly up since it dropped the syndicated morning show.

That's what happened at KVIL in Dallas. Ratings bottomed out at 1.1 in November. They dropped the morning & afternoon shows. This latest book, they're up to a 1.6. Not historic, but it's an improvement. So what does that say? Obviously the in-house syndication didn't work.

The next question is WHY didn't it work? Lazlo is obviously a talented host. He's been successful in many markets, including KC. But the syndicated version didn't do well in Dallas and other places. Why was that? I imagine that question is being asked right now.
