KRCK 97.7 Palm Springs.

Inside Radio says KRCK is back in the hands of Stolz and on the air with a talk format. Are they just simulcasting KBET?
I'll get a radio out today and check.

I know you are joking, but when you are home and listening to "the radio", do you find yourself mostly streaming on computers/smart speakers or actually on am/fm radios?
Not joking. I listen either on computer or ask Alexa to stream for me. No traditional radio is in use.

This was just posted earlier today:

"In the 2020 Infinite Dial, performed before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, just under one-in-three Americans age 12 and older reported not having a single radio in their home. Two years later, that number is now 39%. Fourteen years ago, only 4% of respondents said they had no radios at home."

I got it for abit on a radio it was the Dana show and Fox news. internet went to religion.
A maybe different question. I have several radios. But do I ever listen to any of them? The answer is that with the exception of my ICOM-7300 the answer is no. All my listening at home us off the computer streaming ing

If it's religion part of the time, is VCY running it sometimes?

KWXY hasn't been on 107.3 in years. It currently has a weak translator on 92.3.

BUT they filed today to purchase EMF's 101.9 Cathedral City translator to rebroadcast KWXY.
Guess that was an old article. That site has an odd ball system for their stories. I'll edit my post to reflect that.

It's important to note that the "Palm Springs" market is long, thin and curve-shaped with mountains surrounding it on the top and bottom side as well as to the West and it's all in a very flat valley where parts are below sea level.

It's a market made up of a bunch of smaller cities, with Palm Springs to the Northwest and Coachella to the Southeast with Indio, Bermuda Dunes, La Quinta, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage all being separate entities.

The biggest city is Indio, with nearly twice the population of Palm Springs... and home to the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. Indio is about 80% Hispanic, and the market is now over 50% Hispanic in total.

For AM, no signal covers the whole market due to about the worst ground conductivity in the nation... worse than Long Island! For FM, the many translators can't cover the nearly 40-mile long market. And some of the FMs licensed to the east side of the market don't get to Palm Springs on the West. And none of the signals really gets out of the Coachella Valley more than a short distance.

They just filed to change the primary station for 101.9 to KWXY. I wonder what the plan is for 92.3, which is a completely overlapped by the much better and stronger 101.9.

There are so many marginal signals in the CV. A shrinking number of terrible AM facilities (it's got to be down 2 or 3 in the last 5 years) and and a lot of translators that only cover part of a relatively small market.

In my experience, 94.3, 101.9, and 106.5 are three of the best translators in the area.

107.3 is also one of the better translators. I was surprised that KKGX is still broadcasting, another IVOX station with a terrible translator. No website, but did find a link for streaming. The plan was for it to be a hyper local talk station, instead it's Oldies billed as "music for generation X". Their focus seems to be on KWXY, though.
