So I was on radio locator earlier today and noticed this

It's license has expired. Been that way since December 2021 David e don't radio stations get penalized if they don't renew their license with the FCC? I'm kind of shocked that it's August and it hasn't been renewed yet

All the Univision LA stations have filed and pending license renewals, based on the transfer to new ownership in the TelevisaUnivision merger / buy-out.

My question is why is it taking so long it's been over a year now that they filed. I would think the transfer would be simple. Maybe not?

There have been renewals on hold for many years due to various issues, ranging from the FCC asking for further data to pending investigations or violations that need to be resolved prior to a renewal grant.

That pending sale has nothing to do with the license renewal of the FMs owned by TelevisaUnivision in LA. The deal is for all the AMs that the company owns plus the full clusters in two non-PPM markets, Fresno and the LRGV. And one ultra-rimshot FM in Dallas that you can barely hear anywhere in the MSA.

And NBC even got, typically, even their headline wrong: the "high profile latinos" are very, very, very minority buyers. The principal source of the purchase price is an investment banking firm which is part of George Soros' portfolio.
