KRDJ 93.7

KRDJ has applied to change city of license from New Iberia to Zachary. No change in facilities...
http://maps.google.com/?q=http://ww...DJ&freq=93.7&contour=60&city=ZACHARY&state=LA

The change would "move" KRDJ from the Lafayette market to the Baton Rouge market where Citadel would be able to continue to own it since it is under the ownership cap in Baton Rouge. KRDJ is in a trust now since it is over the max number of stations it can own in Lafayette.

I'm surprised they picked Zachary in a way... Plaquemine is way closer and is in Baton Rouge Market I thought?

RFLA,

its prob since Plaquemine has a station already liscensed to it (KPAQ). This will be Zachary's first station therefore easier to argue the COL change.

If it doesn't change the signal, what is the point of doing this? Since they'll still provide a city grade coverage of Zachary, they're not moving the tower closer. I'm lost here.

Didn't know they had one of the non-coms licensed for Plaqumine already

And Nola.. Citadel changed their way of ownership a while back and had too many stations under the old rules in Lafayette, meaning that KRDJ was put in a trust (meaning someone else technically owning it but was still controlled by Citadel in preparation for a possible sell). If they move the city of license to Zackary, then it becomes a Baton Rouge station, and since

A - Baton Rouge is a bigger market , it has more stations
B- They are under the amount of stations they hold in Baton Rouge
C- Move the City of license by the FCC, no signal changes but allows them to keep the station

basically that's what clear channel did to 104.1 ... It moved where the arbitrons call it a station from New Orleans to Baton Rouge... a little paper work and Clear channel holds the title now instead of Aloha trust

Chip, if KRDJ becomes a "Baton Rouge" station, could the studios remain in Lafayette?

yeah as technically 104.1 is in Houma, has studios and formatting for new orleans but is technically assigned to the arbitron br region...
