KRDX 98.5 on the way

If you scroll down about a dozen messages, you'll find my treatise on "98.5 Technical and Legal". I suggested the possibility that Clear Channel could get rid of KRDX by simply adopting the IBOC digital system. Well, that's exactly what Clear Channel just did with KOHT-98.3

Meanwhile, KRDX is on the air whenever its owner feels like going on the air. Should be interesting to see how badly the digital racket cuts into the KRDX signal

This is a shining example of why IBOC is a terrible system that needs to go back to the drawing boards. IBOC uses way too much spectrum and thus causes much too much interference.

I heard the guy that owns KCDX/KRDX/DWAR is quite rich, and currently makes a living off his agriculture business.

Desert West Air Ranchers is not an agriculture business.

Sigh. The young.

I didn't mean to imply that Desert West Air Ranchers(the licensee) was an agricultural business, but the man who owns KRDX and KCDX made his money from agricultural business(es).

He didn't. He was an engineer in the 70s who made a fortune buying rural radio stations, moving them to metro areas, selling them, and bought some land in Wyoming.

Ted is no more a rancher than George Bush.

zumahans..

thank you for correcting me! i was just repeating what a friend had told me yesterday..!

http://www.krdx.com/ KRDX will be on with a new format soon. This station is owned by Ted Tucker who also runs classic hits KCDX in Phoenix. KCDX has a wide range of music and no commercials.

Calling KCDX a Phoenix station would be very generous. It would also, according to Arbitron, be inaccurate.

Ted Tucker is a millionaire living in a small town in Arizona. he makes and sells radio stations as a business. he recently sold one for 8 million dollars in fact.
