The audio on Newsradio 1080 KRLD has become hard to listen to. In the last few weeks it has started to sound like it is being fed to the transmitter by an old analog telephone line and the sound is overmodulated or something. It's a little better on my HD radio when the HD kicks in, but still doesn't sound good at all. I don't notice this problem on any other AM station. Anyone know what's going on?

I seriously doubt ANY 1080 employees would post anything that could be traced back to them. Have you contacted the station?
When did KRLD turn its HD back on? IT was off for awhile. The hash beats against KNX 1070 and whatever decides to waft up on 1090
IMHO had the industry and FCC had grabbed analog TV channels 2 thru 5 for "pure" digital radio after the TV digital conversation. 5K channels with tower heights the same as existing FM. Class A AMs got C or B heights and C and D AMs got class A FM heights. Class D FMs and LPFMs would get 100 ft max.
There were existing digital compression schemes that allows 36 kbits to 56 kbits on noisy phone lines with less than 4k bandwidth. One way data should be 50%+ faster.
What little of what the European digital radio I read about seemed interesting but I believe the "not invented here" made sure it was never seriously considered in the US.

If they have social media, they might pay more attention to that than anything else. I bet what few local employees they have, if they listen, listen with their phone.
It sounds to me like the audio is being overdriven going from the studio to transmitter site. I don’t know if they use an STL, phone circuit or a fiber circuit, but it could be this or, remotes going to the studio. Many stations allow for on air personalities to setup and use home studios. Since the stations ownership change, on air quality issues prevail.
The quality of the AM signal be suffering the “Let’s make our HD and Streaming signals sound great so we can drive away the AM audience”

I heard KRLD up here in SE WY last night. KRLD is audible most nights here but last night was the first night I paid it attention.. and I had forgotten about this
I heard the start of "our american stories" with lee habeeb and noted to myself, "This doesnt sound good"
it sounds too "warm" and over driven yet my volume wasnt up that loud. it was distorted or anything
