KRLD comes to KRMG!

I've got to say I'm very impressed hearing Mark Watkins and Mark Willis on KRMG. I remember listening to these plenty of times when I lived in north Texas.

Is KRMG now doing live local news 24/7? If so, more power to them.

I can't stand the rest of that station's program schedule outside of TU sports and the non-offensive weekend fare. But, IMO, the station's news department is the best in Oklahoma and that includes Arkansas and Kansas too.

*Edit above post "these two"

And on a related note. No one has responded to what I said. And then I click on KRMG's bios page and Mark Watkins is gone. That was quick. Can anyone explain WTH happened?

It's a sad day when we can say that KRMG's current news department is the best around. While that may be true of any commercial station in town (KWGS' newsteam can't be beat), they couldn't write copy for the likes of John Durkee, Richard Dowdell, Marshall Stewart, et al.

That isn't a shot at the current newsies at 740 as much as it is a major compliment to those who have been inexplicably ushered out of the door.

Living in Dallas, I will say that losing Watkins and Willis was Oklahoma's gain.

Budget cuts at KRLD and CBS all over the place last year.

Radio in the 21st century.

Regards,
Tony

Mark Watkins was fired after about six weeks in the chair. Why? Few are saying. The revolving chair has yet to be filled.

It's very interesting that certain KRMG naysayers (including a certain morning man who seems to be bringing so many of his former co-workers with him from south of the border) have yet to chime in on the doings from the fifth floor.

Thanks for the kind words about the Big 89 (point-5). At KWGS, we are having fun in news and constantly expanding. We recently started piggybacking the top-of-the-hour network news with local casts in morning and afternoon drive and added traffic-and-weather at :20 and :50 during the drives as well. We are looking at our options in other day-parts. Radio can still be fun!
