KRLD FM - HD 105.3 - 1 & 2

CBS 105.3 FM is now sporting the KRLD id on it's HD-1 and HD-2 channels.

HD-2 is the Indie-Verse music channel.

HD-1 is the All Sports Channel ---- and much like it's sister station, KRLD-AM, there's lots of cra-ppy obnoxious commercials to be found there. The on air banter between the hosts of the car show on this afternoon, is typical formulaic garbage....

In HD ! ! ! ;D

Didn't the RAB or Ibiquity or other HD radio proponents ban the airing of commercials on any HD channels? At least until HD "takes off"? ::)

It doesn't really matter, since HD has long past the crash & burn stage. In a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if the younger generation gives the same blank stare about HD, as they usually do when you mention things like records and 8 tracks. :D

The HD Radio Alliance agreed not to air commercials on the digital subchannels to generate awareness for HD Radio. That rule only applied to members of the HD Radio Alliance, and has been relaxed greatly over the last year or two. A friend of mine works at KTXR in Springfield, MO, and he has always aired commercials on 101.3-2 as his employer is not a member of the alliance. Most Dallas/Ft. Worth broadcasters, however, are members.
