KRLD Traffic

What happened to the morning trio of traffic people I liked to listen to on KRLD? Wasn't Max Miller over Dallas and Amy Bishop in FW and Eric Grubbs in the studio? Now we got Tommy (Edge Sports) Daniels over Fort Worth and some long-winded fellow in Dallas. Dude, I have been accused of being long-winded but take a breath and get out. I like Erica W in the studio but I miss Eric G. Wait, Erica/Eric? Did somebody go to Switzerland for an operation?

Six months ago KRLD had the best air borne traffic in town. Now it's amatuer hour everyday. This is no doubt part of the reason why Spittle was about to be blown out and had to make a last second appeal to go to Houston to keep himself out of the unemployment line.

It has been a long time since Eric Grubbs has been in Studio during the 6-9 hours. He does still take over traffic at 9 once the airbornes land. To answer your question about 3 months ago Metro had to cut cost (go ahead m. shannon insert some sort of Metro wise crack). At that time it was Max Miller-Dallas, John Driggs-Tarrant, and Amy Bishop-Collin/Denton with Chet in the studio. Spittle wanted a female voice on the ground (some have speculated to replace the female voice KRLD lost when they let go Carla Marion). They tosssed a few people in who would have been cheaper (including me who jumped ship for another opportunity within the company two weeks in) and others who KRLD didn't like the way they sounded. Bishop got a job hosting mornings at WRR. Driggs now does traffic for some of the other markets Metro covers from the Dallas office. I haven't listened in a while but MissyRadio if you haven't heard Miller lately I would bet he is on vacation. He knows those roads like nobody else so surely they wouldn't get rid of him, Chet does a great job and presents the information with urgency. Same can be said for Erica, remember she does have all the spots to read which adds some time to her reports.

HA! You know me well. But you already know your own place of employment, and I can't really offer up any more than that as an outsider and as a snubbed traffic has-been. But thanks anyway! :)

Curious about Max Miller. (Now we're not talking "Office Max," correct, as he's finally gone from there, right?)I'll have to shoot him an email. There's a pesky rumor that this vacation of his is a "cover story," while there's something much deeper going on with his job. Hell, Metro should be dividing its top talent evenly amongst WBAP and KRLD, with the trainees and broadcasting school interns and bottom-feeders spread amongst the lesser-billing stations. Maybe with Gavin's "expertise" leaving KRLD, finally, there'll hopefully be some positive changes over there.

Eric Grubbs is a great guy and someone I used to work with in my short time at Infinity. I used to watch Brinkman be a total d*ck to Eric and feel so bad for him back then, but was glad to hear him doing traffic years later. Metro should make more use of him or put him in a key role instead.

Well I'm going to stay with my first inclination that Max is on vacation...because they asked me to fill in for him. If he had been let go or quit I think I would have got that information. However, my bags are packed for Oklahoma so for the record I'm not with Metro or CBS anymore. And Mike I was only in this market for 2 years but I enjoyed reading all the information you have published on the history of Dallas radio.

Max is a good guy and I hope everything's ok. Good luck to you in Oklahoma, and thanks for putting up with my occasional crap on here during your stay! Once you glean the BS out of my posts and my other web activities, there's actually sometimes some useful information there (and once in a while, I even include some facts!!) ;D Take care.
