KRMG Layoffs?

I've heard through the grapevine, KRMG let Marshall Stewart go. If so that is a true shame, he was one of the best reporters in Tulsa hands down. That goes for print, radio, or tv.
Has KRMG cut ties with anyone else? Media companies are under assault in this economy. I don't see things getting much better.

Media companies are under assault in this economy.

No, media (especially radio) have assaulted themselves. Stations were selling for ungodly prices years ago and highly leveraged. A blip in the economy and the 1st thing to go is advertising budgets. Revenues are down and owners are unable to make their payments. It's time for radio to go back to real broadcasters not empire builders.

Good point. I don't see why anyone is posting anything having to do w/this thread. It's obviously generating traffic, but it's almost like folks are too afraid to say anything. Does Cox come after people?

While Marshall's release may have had some political motivation, there were other people cut along with him due to cutbacks. The Tulsa World has also recently cut several staff, some who had been there a very long time. I think there is no industry immune from these economic times. It seems like every week for at least the last month I have heard of someone being released from their job.

More of the reason why the industry is caving in on itself... I just hope some decent people are able to get in on the impending fire sale that will be happening soon and improve things. Debt is the core of the stupidity. The next owners of many of the radio groups' assets hopefully will not have much debt and can make radio back into an industry instead of a circus full of assclowns.
