KRMG lineup changes

According to KRMG's website, they have made some changes to their lineup.

Basically Rush and Hannity now air on a one-hour delay (Noon & 3pm CT respectfully) and Savage starts at 6pm CT. Boortz starts a half hour earlier at 8:30 and lasts until 11:45 with Paul Harvey taking the 11:45-Noon slot. Clark Howard is run on a delay from 9pm until Midnight.

Gone is their noon newscast, which hung on longer than I expected.
 
Can't the station's suits find any kind of way to feature local daily programming?

Everything ( except morning drive ) has to come off satellite?

How boring.

Plus, every host is NATIONALLY successful!

Anne Williams.
The p.m. sports guy who had a sports talk show during the 1990s.

The great station has lost its legacy.
Now it's just another cookie-cutter talk station.
 
Mash was a great show once upon a time too.

The hottest products in talk radio are coming from national sources. It works in most markets.

Most of those shows are expensive to carry. Most are not barter.

This sounds like a classic case of getting cause and effect mixed up. The hottest products in talk radio being national is not the cause of talk radio stations' success; it's a reflection of the escalating costs of doing talk radio at the local level, especially at the small market stations, and the aging demographic of the programming. If you look at Hannity, for example, he rides your ratings more than anything else. A successful talk station will continue to be successful if it puts Hannity on in afternoon drive. The struggling talkers, however, don't get much, if any, help from him. That can be said for many of the national products.

However, they're still cheaper, and significantly cheaper, than hiring a local talent. If you have Limbaugh and can follow him with Hannity or a local talent, you're almost sure to select Hannity because he's virtually guaranteed to hold the audience at less cost than a local host, which is more of a crap shoot with the audience.

So everything should be outsourced, even local news?

Everything from an automated source.

And we call this radio?
 
Now, to be fair, last time I heard, KRMG was NOT outsourcing their news 6am - 7pm. Additionally, the news at night might be recorded but it was recorded locally and a news guy or gal was always on call if somebody was killed. Overnights are live with Don Bishop last time I heard.

There is also always somebody behind the controls, even if they aren't allowed to talk.

The syndicated programming getting on your nerves and the news not being local are two different issues.
 
Yeah.. and getting the lower ratings because it's just another cookie-cutter station too. One would think being consistantly a 1 or 2 would be enough to keep the corporate ownership in check but...

I'm well aware the station has a local news presence.
I was being argumentive, that since something is cheaper, thus rationally, it should follow, that it should be outsourced as well.
