KRML

I've been reading a little about 1410 KRML in the Seaside-Monterey area, and am curious what the deal is there? I realize this is open-ended, but I checked at R-Locator for example, and see that they aren't really covering the entire market, but it seems they have a marketwide effect. Are they locally owned? Have a decent signal? Are they any kind of presence (despite a no-show in Arbitron)?

KRML is locally owned by the guys who run a jazz music shop in Carmel. With 500 watts daytime, and a lot less at night, they do cover the Monterey-Seaside-Pacific Grove area pretty well. At night the signal is quite good in Carmel. I can hear them in Santa Cruz (25 miles north) during the daytime just fine.
The format is jazz, and they sound more like a non-commercial station than a slick, commercial operation. Local, live announcers, and some light automation for the overnights pretty much sums up this unique station.
I was the CE at KRML back in the 70's. Many fond memories.
