KRMP

So what has become of KRMP? I noticed it's no longer an R&R Urban AC reporter. Is it simulcasting KVSP? Is it carrying a syndicated Urban AC format? Sorry, I'd check it out myself, but I can't get AM in my apartment!

I'm not sure what's up with that but I'm assuming they're still Urban AC. When I went through OKC about 2 months ago KRMP's programming was all over the board, the carried Tom Joyner in the mornings, then the Open Mic show from 9-11am, then I heard some kind of infomercial between 11am-1pm, and hour of music after that, then they air Michael Baisden from 2-6pm, then it's the regular music format until sign off at sunset. I didn't even hear any jocks on the station either, I guess that's another way for Perry to save money for the station and not hire jocks for their AM. It still feels like there's no true Urban AC in OKC IMO, I'll be heading through OKC next weekend to take a listen to KRMP to see if anything has changed, it would be nice if Perry would get another frequency in OKC and carry KRMP 24 hours instead signing off on sunset on 1140.
Edited by X-Man on 10/30/05 12:58 AM.

I'd like to see KAEZ come back to OKC airwaves myself with their mix of R&B & Jazz. Any reason why 1140 can't go 24 hours?

I can see it now. Anyone got a picture of one of Jack's old billboards so we can get it right?

To sell'em you first have to have something worth listening to. Unfortunatly with today's radio, that's a mighty far stretch.

Jack Beasley - A class act.

I don't remember the name, Larry Barwick. When was he at KLPR? I was there 1967-68. Jack Beasley had quite a country empire going at that time. In addition to KLPR Radio/TV in OKC, he had KTOW in Tulsa, KTCS in Fort Smith, KFAY in Fayetville, and construction permits in Bristow and Woodward and one in Missouri.

During that time period, KLPR was #2 in the market, right behind WKY. KLPR Radio/TV was a mecca for Nashville artists dropping by and plugging their latest releases. Hardly a day passed that we didn't have a country music artist wandering the halls of the stations.

I wish I had a picture of one of the old billboards (to sell 'um you gotta tell 'um).

I have hundreds of stories I could tell about Jack Beasley and KLPR. I've even thought about writing a book about my time at KLPR. Before Jack died, I stopped by to see him. He still had his sense of humor. I told him that my time working for him was the best two years of my life.

Sorry for rambling. When I see KLPR mentioned, I just have to put in my two cents worth.
