Longtime KRNA-FM/Cedar Rapids-Iowa City, IA, Brand Manager Gregg "Shark" Scharnau lost his fifteen-month battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday December 20. He was just 49 years old. Scharnau began his career at KDTH-AM and KATF-FM in his hometown of Dubuque, IA and spent time on-air in Princeton, IL, before settling in at KRNA in the late 90's.

The Shark -- as he was affectionately known -- was best known for an encyclopedic knowledge of rock and love for his wife Susan and their four children. A celebration of Shark's life will be held Wednesday December 28 at Theater Cedar Rapids beginning at 7pm.
