WXRK calls end up in Cleveland!!

Clevelands 92.3 WXTM became WXRK at midnight last night!! Kinda odd its the same frequency, and the station is an alternative outlet!!

But it would be nice if Infinity let WNEW stream for free too.

That website still points to an "in limbo" slpash graphic.

However, I would assume that the following URL would be to the direct stream, since there is already a reservation for it (but no audio as of yet) :

The end of an era. I remember when 92 WKTU signed on as WXRK back in the 80's.

Yes, "F-NY"................ Im sure they were going with the "F" standing for for "FREE" but looks someone overlooked the more obvious meaning that the cynics would draw.

LOL

Don't forget its life as WHOM-FM before then.

This station in Cleveland is also owned by CBS Radio. So I guess CBS wanted the calls to say in the CBS Radio family.

Station's Website:

So I guess when this whole Free-FM thing ultimately fails, they'll just have to simulcast the station from Cleveland back here in NYC.

I wish. ;)

FM/92.3 - Cleveland Heights is currently stunting as "92.3" on "random play" - a jockless form of their alt-rock format formerly known as "923X." Some sweepers say, "92.3 - it just rocks."

FM/92.3 has had a nightmarish list of formats in the past 35 years; not to mention THREE different incarnations of the rock/alt-rock format in the past four years ("92.3 Xtreme", "923X" and this current stunting!) PD Kim Monroe has headed all three.

And for whatever it's worth, WTXM/WXRK carries Shane "Rover" French, and was his flagship station until last week.
