Krockradio.com DJ's?

Since when are there DJ's on Krock (hd2)? There is still no real website but there are DJ's. Sounds nice and better than the regular last incarnation of KROCK on FM.

krock has had dj's on it for over six months now...the station sounds like garbage, too much emo and hardcore and not enough alternative and pop.

The K-Rock HD2 jocks are so annoying and untalented. It sounds almost like they just put out a memo asking who in the building wanted to be on the air, and they threw the random people who responded on without vetting or coaching them. I like the music mix, but the "talent" almost makes me not want to listen.

I can't stand emo, but it sounds like you're looking for a cross between the current K-ROCK 2 and 'RXP.

It sounded a bit voicetracking and I think that's the reason it sounds so dry and not live.

I found some schedule on there Facebook page:

Fitz 7am-10am
Lindsay 10am-1pm
E.J. 1pm-4pm
Sasha 4pm-7pm
Jess 7pm-10pm
Oz 10pm-Midnight, B Local on Sunday 10pm
Omar Midnight-2am "The Pit" - metal, harcore & more

Weekends:
Ed & Joe Sat/Sun 7am - 10am
Louis Saturdays 10am-1pm
Dasman Sat 7pm-10pm
Oz-Fitz Sun 7p-10p. There's Oz... and Fitz. Together.

Full schedule, don't know the names and if they are in radio for years and on KROCK when they are on the regular airwaves in NYC a couple of years ago.

I know they're voicetracked. I'm not complaining about the fact that they're not live. I'm complaining about the fact that they just plain don't sound like good jocks. Almost every break is laced with some comment about sex or how they're "so hung over from last night," and they don't sound smooth in their delivery at all (again, not a matter of being VTed, just a matter of not being able/coached to sound natural or polished in any way on the air).

Krock should NEVER be playing hardcore pop haha that's what Now does. And Yes Now is failing. Has it caught up to Z100? Nope. It's not doing well. It hasn't been. More people stick with what they know well and trust. Z100 is a legendary and well run station. People all over know Z100. No one knows Now and also Now is run horribly (aside from Lisa Paige & Nick Cannon) other than that they suck.

Wait a second... a modern rock station that targets males 18-34 has jocks that talk about sex and beer? My goodness, what are those jocks thinking? There is no way their key demographic would want to hear about those things.

I'm sure all the faceless critics here are successful jocks/programmers in top 10 markets.

There's a difference between talking about sex and beer and talking about sex and beer EVERY BREAK. I'm in that demo, and while I like sex and beer, those aren't the only two things that my life revolves around, andI don't want to hear about them every 10 minutes.

And all the faceless critics here are entitled to their opinions. If someone wants to offer a product to me, I have the choice to either consume it with enjoyment, or find it distasteful for certain reasons and not consume it. Whether CBS actually takes my opinions and desires into account when making a station that they'd like me to listen to, that's another story. But I still have the right to express my opinion about why I like or dislike something. I'm sure there are TV shows you don't like for whatever reasons, but you don't have to be a top TV network executive to say why you don't like them.

Why do you want the station Lisa Paige is on to fail? ::)

1. I've listened to KROCK HD2 quite a bit, and to say every break revolves around those to things is GREATLY exaggerated. Maybe once or twice I'll hear it. I actually find some of what they say refreshing, unique, and they bring their personalities.

2. You're right, faceless critics are entitled to their opinion, but to say they sound talentless and need to be coached leads me to believe that you are an expert on the matter. You better have earned some stripes if you want to criticize someone at work.

I work in radio, but by no means am I a hot shot jock/programmer. I just find it tasteless and cowardly to criticize when (A) You can't be held accountable for your comments (B) you're not an expert on the matter. It's just so easy to do it here because there are no consequences.

Lastly, Lisa Paige is adorable and a firecracker. How can anyone not like her?

And I'd have to agree here, NOW is far from failing. WXRK has been CHR for less than two years. You're not going to take down a giant like Z100 in a place like NYC quickly. If NYC is anything, it is loyal. It will take a lot more work to get where they want to be. They have been gaining ground though, slowly but surely.

You're right, I might've been invoking some poetic license by saying EVERY break revolves around those things, but I will say that I have definitely heard liquor and sex invoked in more breaks than not on K-Rock HD2. It just feels like the jocks are pushing that angle a lot... and very much more so than other jocks I hear on other Alt stations.

Again, you're right -- it's probably tasteless and cowardly to criticize when I don't put a name or reputation behind my words. However, I will say that given the industry's current business climate, I think I'd rather post an opinion here under a screenname and have you discount it for being anonymous than commit job suicide for publicly criticizing someone. (But I'll at least admit I'm not in programming or on-air at K-Rock, though I think that was a given.)

The jocks could use booze/sex themed content more than other stations. But lets be honest, it's a VT'ed HD2 station that only put jocks on about 6 months ago. And if you were listening before that point, you would have noticed the playlist didn't change at all once HD1 went Top 40. It looks like only recently has CBS shown a faint interest in the HD2 channel, so I assume the on air talent is pretty wet behind the ears. I just see some potential there.

And you are absolutely right, putting your name and reputation out there could be very dangerous. And because anonymity is important, I think it is in good taste to keep harsh criticism to yourself. But hey, if people couldn't bash others anonymously a big hunk of this thing called the web wouldn't exist.

I had been listening before WXRK became "92.3 Now" -- the station launched online back in 2005 and was put on WXRK-HD2 in 2008. Danni programmed the K-Rock HD2 channel for a long time until she was let go in September '09 from her gig at Fresh 102.7. After she left, the station was left alone to languish for several months. And while I am happy that someone is paying attention again to maintaining K-Rock HD2 and actually putting some jocks on, I'm merely saying that, with pundits proclaiming HD Radio as the thing that will infuse new life into our industry, it's a statement that a major radio company would put on a completely voicetracked HD station in Market #1 without a lineup of proven jocks. I doubt anyone would be that lax about any FM/HD1 station in New York, but I guess it just speaks to the actual level of radio companies' willingness to invest in their HD products.
