Krok talk: He's great but will he last?

Man I haven't enjoyed a radio show as much as Krok talk on WSB. As far as a talk show goes it is way outside the box. Which is why I am wondering how long he will be on the air. He is like Savage but without the common sense of a happy medium. Savage kids the audience all the time about not wanting to go to break and let the sponosrs have the airtime they paid for. Krok means it and even delays newscasts to say and do whatever he wants. I think it is frickin' hilarious and the most entertaining radio I have heard in a long time.

If WSB really wants to make this work they may want to go in the direction of other 50,000 watt stations with local shows during late night (WGN, KDKA, etc). Both the example stations don't have news at at exactly the top and bottom of the hour, the news is stunted off at odd intervals, In fact I think WGN does their news late nights (at least) at :10 or :15

Live and local Late-night radio is rare on the AM dial these days and I commend WSB for giving it a shot. However Royal Marshall would have been a safer bet. Krok is a loose cannon. But then of course so was David Paul 15 years ago (Man my folks hated him and would get angry if they caught me up in the middle of the night listening to him).

I have read the rumor that Krok was hired so that WSB had someone to take the place of Clark Howard if/when he retires. However I don't think he would do well at all in the middle of the day. There's a decorum that needs to be followed in the middle of the day on-air. Krok would blast that out of the water. The audience may just eat it up but the advertisers would run away in a stampede.

Will Krok last?

I found David Paul to be downright hilarious when I would listen
to him from the Carolinas late at night. Speaking of live and
local, WSB was doing just that around the start of Desert Shield
when Wes Minter did 8-Midnight and David Paul was on at Midnight
until either 3 or 5AM. I am glad to see WSB putting on a live
and local show late at night, and hoping they will do more of
that in the future.

I heard part of his show last night.(Friday, 10PM) It was like listening to my 15 year old son.....he said,"and stuff" and "like" 50 times,I'll bet, in 10 minutes.
Is this really the best WSB could do?

Hope so

I've listened to bits and pieces most nights and really like his show. I hope it stays around. He's surprised me with some of his views. Conservative, but some socially liberal viewpoints (from what I've gathered so far).

I've given Chris a couple weeks now. IMHO, I think he's good, but not great by any stretch.

Decent topics but it's one at a time, almost like he can't handle other things that come up. Makes for boring listening if the topic isn't of interest.

Secondly, the spaces. If I could condense the spaces in b/w his thoughts he might come across a bit better. I've had in-depth conversations waiting for him to start the next sentence.

I wish they would've kept Royal on board for that time. Yet, I understand SB's looking for fresh talent. Royal's been around a while.

Anyone know how they track how well Kroc does? Is it ratings?

Thats' my 2 cents...
