Krok to start at WSB-AM Monday Feb. 13

I just met Chris Krok. He starts at 10 p.m., Monday February 13, doing the 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. shift. He's been in town since January 18, learning the town. He refuses to be pigeonholed politically though based on the examples he gave me, he leans conservative and libertarian. (In Madison, he supported the pledge of allegiance and pointed out that a "teach in" at a local college was skewed anti-war before the Iraqi war. In Minneapolis, he went ballistic with a smoking ban.)

He plans to do a show that's very local, with lots of phone calls. He strikes me as very confident. His producer is Tom Hughes' former producer at GST (who was fired in December), Rick DiLorenzo.

His name is real, he said. He's a big-time smoker -- loves it! Yet he also runs 7.5 miles a week. He's married with a toddler and a second on the way. He loves the Rolling Stones and will be at Philips Feb. 8.

As noted earlier, he's clearly being groomed for bigger and better things. I ran into Boortz and Clark today at the WSB building and they were both joking that Krok is going to take over for one or the other. We'll see...
Edited by Rodney Ho on 01/31/06 02:47 AM.

WOW! He runs 7.5 miles a WEEK??? That's like what, a mile a day, give
or take? Whoa... easy there big fella... Don't go crazy with that runnin' thang!

Mr. Ho . . .

Well, best to Mr. Krok.

Forgive me if I missed your comments, but just why did WSB elect not to place Royal Marshall in a late evening talk position? Royal seemed on topic and current given his program was not regular due to the Braves broadcasts. Royal seemed to have a connection to the local political crowd something that Mr. Krok is going to have to cultivate. Is Royal going to persue a life outside of WSB or will he remain there and increase his real estate holdings for supplimental income?
