I miss the days when KRON was an NBC affiliate.1069_KIFR said:KRON4 announcing that their contract is expiring very soon with MediaCom. Their Broadcast being carried on that system may be interrupted.
Reminds me that KOFY and San Bruno Cable still have not come to terms to resume broadcasting KOFY on their system.

A little off topic however I'm not in the market anymore. Curious how Channel 11 has served the SF Bay in lieu of KRON.
I was born and raised in San Jose so I remember KNTV very well and remember the move. Haven't kept up with all the changes so thanks for the information. Is NBC Bay Area still feed from a master control in Southern CA? I vaguely remember hearing something of master control being out of market and fiber fed. Is that still the case?Lkeller said:stewie said:I bet.1069_KIFR said:I'm sure the employees of KRON4 miss it too!!!

You may know this, but in case you don't - a lot of OTA viewers were initially screwed by NBC's move to KNTV, but they moved the transmitter to Mt. San Bruno between Burlingame and South SF. I live on the south side of Bernal Heights, out of the line of site of the Twin Peaks Tower, but I can actually see the KNTV tower out my bedroom window. So ironically, I can get KNTV over the air, whereas I could not get KRON OTA.
I've heard that some viewers in the North Bay still got better OTA reception from KRON than they do now from KNTV. But since most viewers have cable or satellite now, it's mostlhy a non-issue...hence their branding as "NBC Bay Area"...not "11."
