KRON is no longer the NBC affiliate

Not that it affects me any longer but does the San Jose signal cover Marin County like KRON used to?

Huh? I'm confused, Recto. Why are we talking about this more than a decade after KRON stopped being the Bay Area's NBC affiliate?

Perhaps you are talking about the deal between KNTV and KRON in which KRON was going to sell its San Francisco studios (on Van Ness - worth a lot of money), and would move into KNTV's San Jose facility, and presumably carry NBC programs pre-empted by KNTV for Giants games, etc. If so, you should say that clearly.

If that agreement fell through, I haven't heard. But it was just an agreement between two corporations. NBC was not going to own any part of KRON.

According to the FCC database the stick is in (or near) Daily City and reaches up to Santa Rosa and Vacaville.

Then again it's on RF-12 so this may be optimistic reception results.

I'll need to update my Palm Pilot with this breaking news. I don't want to miss the new seasons of "Friends,""Scrubs," and "Weakest Link"!

Yes - I live in Bernal Heights with a southern view - I can see the KNTV stick and attached building out my upstairs window. It's on Mt. San Bruno - it could be within the Daly City limits, south San Francisco city limits, or unincorporated - not sure.

I was confused with what KFIR said.

Sorry, Recto - I should have addressed my inquiry to 1069KIFR. I thought you started the thread for some reason.

KTVU is the Bay Area's first independent TV station...

...rumor has it they're going to show Roller Derby, a talk show with Don Sherwood, something for kids called 'Captain Satellite', maybe some Giants games(but only when they're visiting the Dodgers), and, believe it or not, a nightly newscast at TEN o'clock. It'd be great if they showed movies, too...maybe they could even do something where they call people at random and gave away money. Might also be a market for cartoons someday. Who knows, Jerry Lewis might even go national with that New York-based TV fundraiser. KTVU would be a good place for it! ;)
