KRON now a Secondary NBC Affilate

Looks like they still are. But with MNT programming only 2 hours of primetime five nights a week, it's easy to shoehorn in overflow from NBC.

It is weird seeing NBC shows like "Dateline" on KRON during the Giants games on KNTV...
I never thought NBC would have anything to do with KRON, considering how ugly it seemed
to get between Young Broadcasting and NBC...

I believe KRON ironicly is part of the NBC family (again) correct me if I am wrong. Right now San Jose (channel 11 NBC) is using channel 4 for an "overflow" when they can't air NBC programing in their schedule, and I heard that NBC want's to sell KRON studios (1004 Van Ness) to raise some $ but I am sure they are not going to want to duplicate news departments in the "city" and in San Jose so this should be intresting to see how this plays out!

I believe you are correct in most of your statements regarding NBC and KRON. There is a shared technical agreement on the table with NBC Universal. Right now according to a unnamed news source the talks have been suspended do to some disagreement with Vince Young who is part of the management team of the newly created New Young Broadcasting. Gray Television was suppose to manage 7 other Young stations but that has not happened to date. I think this is just a temporary stall.

I think ultimately NBC will end up with KRON and their operations with shift to the KNTV Headquarters building on North First Avenue in San Jose. The current Van Ness building will probably be sold off and most likely be used in the future to house medical office building suites as part of the medical complex going up at the old Cathedral Hotel site.

How this is all going to come together is still a mystery and likely won't happen until later in the year.
