But by the time the AM was leased to Teddy Fregoso for a Spanish language nostalgia format, it was no longer a union shop at the studios. The DJs ran their own board and alos had to have a 3rd Ticket to do transmitter readings.AM is a union shop, stem to stern.
Interesting. Did he mean staff changes or music changes?A few days ago on the morning show, Klein acknowledged that the "new boss" is coming in a few days and warned listeners they may hear some changes on-air.
Their websites are NOT user friendly.I love that logo, but why is it so small on the station's web page? Are Audacy's web people truly that incompetent?
The logo was certainly a casualty of Mr. Kaplan's leadership in trying to eschew the heritage of the station. Glad to see it return as well. The 2020 logo was terrible. No other way to describe it.
It's not just the station logo/branding. I still don't get the company's name change to Audacy in the first place. Nobody except industry insiders and radio geeks "get" what the new name is all about (and not even all of them) and it sows confusion among their listeners and clients, not to mention that it adds costs at a time when increased costs is the last thing the company needs. The logo was certainly a casualty of Mr. Kaplan's leadership in trying to eschew the heritage of the station. Hmm, interesting, I wonder if “June” is the one who got the PD gig considering she keeps talking about continuing with the Morning Show in a “different capacity moving forward”.You can listen to the clip for yourself here: Login • Instagram
His statement starts at: "Well, things are about to change. We want to be totally transparent and let you know everything we do on the show, good, bad or otherwise..."
It doesn't - but people have opinions. Even you!In what way does their corporate name affect your day to day life?
You lost me at "IHeart Radio name being changed to Audacy..."Personally I like the IHeart Radio name better than Audacy. Initially I was unsure about the change myself. But now I guess you could say I’ve slowly come to accept it as time went on.
There’s still tons of stations with different formats to choose from out there on the app. Pick one and start exploring!
Side note: Complaining about the IHeart Radio name being changed to Audacy is like me complaining about BNSF changing the paint scheme from Santa Fe’s old Red/Silver “Warbonnet” to the Black/Orange “Swoosh”. It doesn’t make any sense to the railfans. But the railroad has decided it’s time for a different image and the shippers (who use BNSF to move their freight) accept that.
If the corporate name doesn't matter, why do they go out of their way to mention it several times a day on air?I'm reminded of something a wise man said: If it don't matter, I don't care. I don't listen to companies, I listen to stations. And actually, I'd say most people don't listen to stations, but they listen to music, and that's all the branding they need. The audacy thing only comes into play if you want to stream, and in that case, the radio.com URL forwards to the same platform. They're not going to let go of that name. In what way does their corporate name affect your day to day life?
Why does every national NFL radio broadcast mention Westwood One a dozen times an hour? Who cares who the syndicator/producer of the broadcast is? Certainly not listeners, and advertisers looking to sell their products on national NFL broadcasts have only one place available to do so. So the mentions of Westwood One (and, by extension, iHeart and Audacy) are mere corporate preening, a verbal pat on their own backs, congratulating themselves for being so big and powerful and letting the listeners know that. Ultimately meaningless, but hey, that's entertainment. If the corporate name doesn't matter, why do they go out of their way to mention it several times a day on air?

It doesn't matter to me. If you carefully read my post, you will see I clearly stated the issue from their point of view. I couldn't care less if their entire operation doubled in size or dropped off the earth. It matters to THEM. But I'm just asking why it matters to YOU?
At one time, there was a radio company named Susquehanna Broadcasting. They were based near the Susquehanna River. But none of their radio stations were anywhere near the home office. The home office was a company with another strange name: Pfaltzgraff. So what?
The corporate name is also the name of their streaming platform. The streaming platform is what they are mentioning, not the corporate name.If the corporate name doesn't matter, why do they go out of their way to mention it several times a day on air?
