KROQ, again

"Most important, the idiot boss who had been steering this ship into an iceberg got thrown off the boat"... Nice.
No love lost. It could partially be an act because Alternative listeners tend to be anti-authority but considering some of the stuff that’s come out about Audacy in recent months, it may not be.

It doesn't matter to me. If you carefully read my post, you will see I clearly stated the issue from their point of view. I couldn't care less if their entire operation doubled in size or dropped off the earth.

I read your post carefully. I doubt very much that they see things the way you do.

Personally I like the IHeart Radio name better than Audacy. Initially I was unsure about the change myself. But now I guess you could say I’ve slowly come to accept it as time went on.

There’s still tons of stations with different formats to choose from out there on the app. Pick one and start exploring!

Side note: Complaining about the IHeart Radio name being changed to Audacy is like me complaining about BNSF changing the paint scheme from Santa Fe’s old Red/Silver “Warbonnet” to the Black/Orange “Swoosh”. It doesn’t make any sense to the railfans. But the railroad has decided it’s time for a different image and the shippers (who use BNSF to move their freight) accept that.
It's Entercom that changed to Audacy!

So then it's not, as you suggest, "from their point of view."
The name of this board is "Radio Discussions" Not "Inane Tit-for-Tat Arguments about Radio". If you don't have a constructive comment we can all benefit from, don't post. Your arguments are not only weak but demonstrate a lack of ability to follow a thread.

As others have noted, you like to argue for arguement's sake, but it is tedious and detracts from both the thread and the site. No need to post back.

My constructive comments were in posts #269 and #278. This IS a discussion. Just because you disagree doesn't mean it's an argument.

Those points were fine. I have no problem with reasonable disagreements. You started the inane arguing with me in posts 282 and 286. Again, make posts about radio, do not argue with me.

If politics rears it ugly head, we can count on Frank to swoop in and pull the plug, hopefully not the thread though!

From my experience, it's tough to win against the Big A, eventually you'll be proved wrong.. Current Vegas betting odds are favoring the "A" BTW 🎲 😁

At one time, there was a radio company named Susquehanna Broadcasting. They were based near the Susquehanna River. But none of their radio stations were anywhere near the home office. The home office was a company with another strange name: Pfaltzgraff. So what?
Susquehanna Radio's first stations were in York, PA and Scranton, PA. Both of which are on the Susquehanna River.

But the difference between Susquehanna Radio and Audacy is that you never heard KNBR announcers spell Susquehanna on the air so that listeners could find the right app. I worked for Susquehanna at one time, and I'm pretty confident the name Susquehanna was never intentionally used on the air.

Getting this thread back on track...

At this point, I don't blame them. A lot of poor decision making on the part of their former PD exacerbated underlying issues. It will be interesting to see what the new PD does to right the ship.

Given the fact Mike Kaplan likely played a role in Kevin Klein landing on his feet at KROQ, I doubt the criticism leveled by Mr. Klein is sincere. Probably completely phony as many morning radio bits are.

I can just imagine Susquehanna's listeners to their Spanish language WQBA trying to understand what a Susquehanna might be, let alone how to spell it.

One of the first companies I heard doing corporate branding was Infinity. I asked Mel why he did it, and he said, "We're a public company, and I want potential investors to know who we are." Don't know if that rule was applied at KROQ when he owned it. Probably not.
