How popular are these HD broadcasts? They are indeed playing some deep Roq of the 80's cuts not played during the normal programming! Are many commercials sold locally? Do HD channels like the Roq generate money to pay Freddy and Jed and the CBS consultant and make a profit? The Internet presentation on the CBS Player plays up to 10 minutes of commercials per 'stop set', sometimes twice, very hard to take. Plus the player is cutting out!

Golly gee, if only there was a way that those of us without an HD radio could listen to KROQ's HD2 cnannel! Yes, yes, there is the new-fangled invention known as the "Internet" but most of the KROQ2 links that I click on say "Channel not available." On radio.com --- http://betaplayer.radio.com/player/kroq2/ ---the page opens but the channel doesn't start playing. I did see that Wang Chung's Everybody Have Fun Tonight is on right now---no big loss there, but how can I get the fershlugginer player to work?

If you have a WinAmp player, copy and paste this URL into your 'Play File' box:

They've got Rachel Donahue co-hosting with Freddy; great to hear her again! (They're on the E's right now.)
Oh yes Ms. Ray too! I was going to also mention that but I felt there would be limited interest in this Son Of A to Z Weekend and follow up to your Thread! Thanks for posting!

KROQ HD-2 the Roq of the 80′s welcomes back Raechel Donahue as she joins Freddy Snakeskin for our very special 4th of July ROQ of the 80′s A to Z weekend!’

Get ready for almost 100 continuous hours of KROQ classics. You’ll hear our entire library in alphabetical order, including extended remixes, flashbacks from hell, authentic audio rarities, one-hit wonders, plus dozens more songs we somehow missed the first time around.

It all starts this Wednesday, July 3rd at 6:00 PM with Ebn Ozn’s “A, E, I, O, U Sometimes Y” and goes nonstop until Bauhaus’ cover of Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust” hits your ears sometime after 9:00 PM on Sunday July 7th.

“For those who grew up with the original Roq of the 80’s, this will be like your whole life flashing before your ears – except in the end, nobody gets killed!” – Freddy Snakeskin

This very special presentation will NOT be repeated (at least not this year). Tune in to KROQ-HD2 or listen online HERE. And don’t forget to check out KROQ-HD2 Roq of the 80′s on Facebook.

An additional way to get around the radio.com player for CBS stations (or any other radio groups that use streamtheworld as a provider, such as Entercom, Greater Media, Cumulus, Townsquare, Hubbard, Cox Media, Univision, Midwest TV, Lincoln Financial Media, Salem, Beasley, Pamal, Emmis, many others) is to use the generic streamtheworld player URL where just a change of the call letters and the additional tag of "AAC" (if desired) gets the stream directly (usually; there are exceptions), mostly without any pre-rolled ads.

Generic player URL for KROQHD2AAC: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQHD2AAC 64K 44kHz stereo AAC

Generic player URL for KROQHD2: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQHD2 96K 44kHz stereo

Generic player URL for KROQHD2DIALUPAAC: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQHD2DIALUPAAC 16K 32kHz stereo AAC

Generic player URL for KROQHD2DIALUP: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQHD2DIALUP 32K 22kHz mono

Direct streaming URLs for streamtheworld follow the same pattern as above (as posted by SuperRadioFan earlier in this thread).

A different example: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KROQHD2AAC.pls et cetera.
******************************************************************************************
As long as we're at it, for the main KROQ signal there are additional URL options available - might as well include 'em here:

Generic player URL for KROQFMMOBILE: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQFMMOBILE 128K 44kHz stereo

Generic player URL for KROQFMMOBILEAAC: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KROQFMMOBILEAAC 64K 44kHz stereo AAC

Player URLs and direct streaming URLs otherwise follow same pattern as those for KROQHD2.
******************************************************************************************
CBS Radio puts out for KROQ/KROQHD2 stream-wise - besides the two extra mobile streams for KROQ above (one of which is 128K),
KROQ (96K mp3 + AAC) and KROQHD2's (96K mp3) standard streams are higher quality than for most other CBS stations.

To rap this thread up, Freddy mentioned that Rachel Donahue might be joining KROQ HD2. I think of many things when I think KROQ, but Rachel Donahue is just not one of them? I asked before, does KROQ HD2 make money? What happened to Jed?
