KROQ HD-2 now Roq of the 80s

I see Sluggo will be joining the On Air line up tomorrow. Never liked Sluggo! What happened to Jed? RadioGeek miss ya man!

The real question is how is the HD-2 stream viable enough to support either live or taped on air talent?

I listen from time to time but I listen to the SiriusXM First Wave channel more.

I had asked some time back if the local HD channels sell any commercials as I listen on the CBS player which will play you parts of about 20 CBS promos per stop set. It is horrible and I couldn't see any advertiser wanting to buy time on the CBS stream. With that said I listen to First Wave quite a bit during my 9 month promo, and then I am dumping it, OnStar too! The Talent is weak, Madison, Eagle and Larry the Duck do nothing for me, the processing is terrible, and the playlist is the same daily. Plus you have to pay music royalties.

"What happened to Jed?" Jed does a show called "Fresh Catch," Saturday from 3-4 on 88.5 KCSN. Jed was one of my favorite KROQ jocks but he sounds a lot different than he used to. Not sure what happened to him voice-wise.

Very nice guy though. Saw my first punk band, Fear, thanks to some tickets I won from Jed (of course when we got to the venue, no one knew anything about it! They let us in anyway). Met him at one of the KROQ inland invasions once and we reminisced about the first US Festival. He has some stories for sure! The old KROQ was certainly a magical thing.

Yes Jed doesn't sound the same but in all fairness it was 35 years ago we first heard of him. Jed was doing mornings on the HD2 Stream and Freddy was doing afternoons. They still use a few funny Jed liners. After the 'Son of the Roq of the 80s' Memorial day countdown we learned Rachel Donahue was going to do some more work for them. It never happened and now its Sluggo

I had a basic question that was never answered but with the same 6 members here I might never know the answer. Can an HD station sell time and make money locally? Network advertising on the CBS player platform never took off and now they just fill with TV promos.
