KROQ/KROQ-HD Stream

If you used to listen to KROQ in the 80s or early 90s, give it a listen. They are playing some great old tracks, and featuring many of the old jingles, some of which I had never heard before (didn't move here until 86.)

It would be neat if they pulled together Richard Blade, Jed the Fish, Scott Mason, Tami, Freddy Snakeskin, and Poorman, and had them do some DJing on there. Or perhaps play some old airchecks from the early 80s. Maybe recreate year-end countdowns.....

Their HD broadcasts are apparently not streamed on the web at this time. Here is a link to the KROQ stream:

Those links don't work anymore. I don't want to use their streamtheworld player - it's CRAP. It cuts off after awhile. I like to have all my favorite stations in a playlist on WMP or Winamp. Why can't they just make it SIMPLE? I'm not signing up just to listen to a station - just give the link. UGH!

Links that work on itunes have been the best for me. However, the KROQ stream on streamtheworld works well, and has not dropped out at all for me. It's not as great sound as, say, Radio Paradise's 190, or some of the 128 streams, but it's better than XM. Give it a try.

Hold on! Here's the CBS page for KROQ and KROQ HD2, plus all the other CBS stations. If you're in the mood for a little Depeche Mode or some Romeo Void, just scroll down to "Los Angeles" and click the 'listen' icon after KROQ HD2...it's the last station listed under Los Angeles. Sounds good to me!

Sound is pretty good on the stream. Much more pronounced stereo separation makes some of these warhorse KROQ songs sound very different.

Noticing that KROQ is promoting the 80s stream on-air and on their website. Surprising, as they usually try to "disown" their past so none of the 14 year old listeners are scared away....
