KROQ

I haven't listened to KROQ in a long long time, but have started punching up their stream lately. The times I have listened, they don't sound anything like the Active Rock sound they have had in the past. They seem to be mixing in a lot of AAA artists and songs (IMHO). Is this just my imagination, or have they changed their direction in the past few years or months. I loved the KROQ of the 80's, and I kind of like this current version of KROQ.

I think that's just where the format is right now. The harder stuff isn't really big now, but I do hear mellower fare, such as Mumford and Sons, as well as poppier tracks on many modern rock stations. I like it. It's like a throwback to the 80s and early 90s.

Well, KROQ is one of the highest billers in the nation. I think it was #10 last year. You can't expect short breaks on a station that successful.

Their long commercial breaks are unbearable, or is that the norm for LA?

Two long breaks an hour is the norm for music stations of all kinds in PPM measured markets.

I'd swear KROQ has more commercial breaks than that per hour. I'm a fan of WXRT in Chicago, another CBS Radio station, but to me, their commercial breaks seem to be more tolerable, and less frequent, than KROQ's.

Amen to that. I'm not the only one that feels CBS stations have too many commercials. KROQ, Jack, and KRTH all seem to get intolerable with their breaks. And is it coincidence that everytime KROQ is on ads, I switch to 98.7 and they have music.
