KRTH 101.1 HD-2 Questions.

Can anyone tell me how KRTH 101.1 HD-2 is holding up with the pre-beatles oldies format? Are there any jingles? Would the signal reach as far as the original FM signal (Ventura County).

I noticed they dont have live streaming up yet though for HD-2. I'm thinking about getting HD radio but this is they key factor.

KRTH HD-2 plays non stop oldies 1955-1966 with similiar jingles and image as K-Earth 101. Buddy Holly, Supremes, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Leslie Gore, Beach Boys, are played on K-Earth Classics. Much better music with more variety than KRTH and one of the strongest HD-2 signals out there so it may decode that far west.

I don't know about KRTH HD2 because I live in San Francisco, but I would definitely recommend HD radio. I got my HD car radio/CD player/MP3 ready tuner for $139 after rebate -only a few bucks more than a comparable unit without HD. As you have probably heard, the stations are all commercial free, and many of the music formats are more imaginative than regular FM. Of course, this is because very few people are listening so far. We can probably expect research driven formats and commercials when listernship climbs. In the meantime, I can hear real jazz, pre-Beatles Oldies, classic country, a second classical stream, and a lot more.

Oh - and in hilly San Francisco, the reception is just fine.

Wow, the KROQ HD 2 has Freddy Snakeskin from the old days.

I don't see KRTH's HD 2 signal mentioned anwhere on their website, nor on the CBS website. Are they not streaming this? (Like 99.9 percent of the population, I don't own an HD radio, and have no intention of getting one.) Too bad, because it sounds great from the description above. Heck, maybe KRTH2 will even play good Christmas music.

If not, there is WCBSFM, which has the added benefit of being an actual station people are listening to all over New York.
