KRTH 101 PLAYING SELENA

I might have missed this topic earlier. If so, I apologize. But I'm listening to KRTH 101 in Nashville online right now, and they're playing Selena If I Could Fall In Love. An 11 year old song. Is this new? I've heard them play some stuff from the Early 80's, but nothing from the 90's/

Whatever it is, KRTH just had the best month (extrap) in 12+ and 25-54 in the last several years in October.

I'm not complaining, It just caught me off guard. I've always like the station, and have waited years to hear it online. It's a good sounding radio station. Better than most.

Sounds like OLDIES to me, right.

What happened to the BEACH BOYS, ELVIS or LITTLE RICHARD?

No, K-Earth knows nothing 'bout them.

They're only into songs for young people.

Doug,

Time marches on. BB,Elvis, LR are all great singers but if you were listening to them in HS, you're in your 60's. Unfortunately right or wrong ad agencies don't care about 60 somethings. Another 10 years you'll only hear those artist on TV spots and 500 Watt Peanut Whistles if that.

Time marches on bro...

Not exactly. They are only "in to" songs that appeal to people under 55. This is because there is no ad revenue for stations with big 55+ audiences.

You are absolutely right on the age appeal, but agencies do not specify target demos. The "demon" here is the client themselves, who establishes the marketing target for each product or service and tells the agency to buy against it.

I think KRTH is smart for playing Selena. It's also a very nice song too.

kind of interesting though that the main "target demos" doesn't spend a lot in comparison to the other demos... makes you wonder
