KRTH getting some love in NYC

as seen on Foxnews.com today (Roger Friedman writes for the NY Post):

Dion DiMucci, known simply as Dion, is a seminal character in the history of rock 'n' roll. Now Razor & Tie Records has picked up his blues album, "Bronx in Blue," for release. If you're under 40 and have no idea who Dion is, he's the man who gave us "The Wanderer" and "Runaround Sue." Young New Yorkers couldn't know this, since CBS/Infinity stupidly and cruelly shut down WCBS FM. But Los Angelenos still have K-Earth 101 FM, thank goodness...

If he actually listened to KRTH, he would soon realize the JACK format that replaced WCBS is much better.

KRTH ruined those Dion songs years ago with their over-repetition.

That's because most people didn't know how to change the station when those songs were played into the ground. Thank goodness times have changed! And everyone should buy this new Dion CD its very good!

Content deleted due to posting ratings data. I couldn't find a way to save the content and still delete the ratings ...

Don't you people read (or believe) the rules about posting ratings numbers?

If you read my post carefully, you'll see I was comparing WCBS' Jack format with the current KRTH on a qualitative basis, not on a ratings basis, which is also what the article originally referred to compared. It is not an oldies WCBS thing vs. a Jack WCBS thing.

I have listened to WCBS' Jack format.
I have listened to the current KRTH format.

No doubt the Jack format is better. Jack's music selection is better. Jack's lack of DJs beats the card-readers currently at KRTH.

To your point about the ratings, there is a difference in how Jack has been received in the two markets. In New York, Jack replaced a still popular heritage oldies format and in LA, Jack replaced and aging classic rock station that was programmed way too tight and did not have a lot of heritage behind it. Thus many were sad and angry to see WCBS flip while the flip at KCBS ("Arrow")was anticipated by many who had grown weary of a stale station. The respective ratings for the stations reflect that market dynamic.

See it doesn't matter what you or I subjectively think is "better".
This isn't art, it's commerce. Beyond the nice spin you added,
the bottom line is JACK FM NY has been a failure so far. End
of story.
