We might be witnessing the reincarnation of KRTH.

The Great Northwest needs streaming too!!!!!!!

Also, who the hell lost these oldies in the first place?? Sure was not the listners............

Really? With liner cards, minimal processing and jocks that will all soon sound like Joshua Escandon and have , like him, no experience or knowledge of the format, I don't think so.

Listening to Gary Bryan now is excruciatingly painful. His trying to adapt to liner cards and stretch out his sets is very sad. But his days are numbered along with most of the other on-air staff. More dumbing down of what was once a great oldies station.

If this station is from "The Entertainment Capitol of the World" why doesn't it entertain? Obviously Jhani Kaye is terribly overrated as a programmer since all he knows how to do is turn another station into his KOST model. Just like he did to KBIG.

Here are some suggestions. All of these were huge during the Bob Hamilton and Phil Hall eras.

Will You Be Staying After Sunday...Peppermint Rainbow
Roses and Rainbows...Danny Hutton
Sweet Cream Ladies...Box Tops
Reach Out of the Darkness...Friend and Lover
Time Has Come Today...Chambers Brothers
Tobacco Road...Nashville Teens
Younger Girl...Lovin' Spoonful
Black Pearl...Sonny Charles and the Checkmates LTD
White Bird...It's a Beautiful Day
Words...Monkees

I wonder if any of these will be played. We'll all have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Scott

Prediction: You will be lucky to hear any two off this list.

Wow that sounds truly ugly. Liner cards are really useful
when you have pros like Bryan, Shotgun, etc. But you have
to understand that's really all Johnny has ever done. His
expertise is AC music.

what titles are you hearing so far?

KRTH has a hiccup at 10:03 am

Been spot checking what they've been playing yesterday and today....
Wonderful World-Sam Cooke
Dedicated to the One I Love-Shirelles
Shoop Shoop Song-Betty Everett (I dknow this one's benn burned beyond recognition for years, but did they drop it from regular rotation in the last year or two?)

Anyway, checked them on my way to Starbucks and around 10:03 am I heard Soulful Strut-Young-Holt Unlimited and Twist and Shout-Isley Bros. --- At the Same Time! Twist and Shout could be heard underneath Strut.... then mid-songs --- dead silence (sure wish I had tape rolling).
Then the DJ (Sylvia Amorita?) voice was heard saying something like "Yes we're off the air.... Johnny, it's Sylvia..." Was it a call to Jhani Kaye? A lot of background noise and a male voice came in later... They obviously didn't know the mic was open... About a minute later sounded like a phone call came in and she said "Yes we're off the air.... whose is this?" Then mic closed K-Earth jingle and then Uptight-Stevie Wonder started playing. Even an experienced pro station can have hic-cups... Really haven't heard anything that I would consider to be "lost". Read yesterday (on Don Barrett's column?? I can't remember) that Calendar Girl - Neil Sedaka was going to be played so that's a lost one (I guess).
BTW last night around 7 pm they played the LP/CD 7+ minute version of Light My Fire, right now they're playing the long version of That's The Way of the World-EW&F
Edited by SuperRadioFan on 02/25/06 07:02 PM.

Does anybody really know what time it is?

"the mike was OFF and all of that was going on. The studio went haywire. We're in studio B now"...

Re: KRTH has a hiccup at 10:03 am

Damn. Sorry I missed that one.

Rule #1: When you think you're off the air, don't assume you're off the air. Leave the mic off just in case. Let the song keep playing if possible.

Funny! All but the Danny Hutton song are on my portable music player and on my computer song list!!! The only lost 45 on the list is that song!

How about the fact that you were the last KKHR jock? Can we drag you into that?

(And why didn't you save an aircheck of the switch back to KNX-FM? Hmmmmm?)
______________

Sorry Pat, I always heard 'he' passed on years ago. Buried in an unmarked Grave somewhere in Agua Dolce.

Reactions to lost oldies weekend...

Well, I'm not 100% sure if I would call it an official "lost oldie" fest, but they did play (from what I heard at least) some good cuts. Mostly songs that they used to play at some point, but no longer in the main playlist.
______________

Sorry to the Super Fan!

I found out who the Male voice was. He's the one who said it never happened!.
