KRXQ Morning Crew Mocks Transgender Children

Analysis of a segment on the Rob, Arnie and Dawn show last week in which the discussion revolved around a transgender child in Nebraska...

Hosts Rob Williams and Arnie States took terms referring to gender dysphoric children as "idiots" and "freaks," who were just out "for attention" and had "a mental disorder that just needs to somehow be gotten out of them," either by physical abuse on the part of the parents, or even shock therapy...

Hey, didn't Michael Savage play this card vis a vis autism not too long ago?

But wait, there's more:

For his part, States assured listeners that if his own son were to ever dare put on a pair of high heels, States would beat his son with one of his own shoes... "I'm going to go, 'You know what? You're a little idiot! You little dumbass!" States sneered...

Somehow...when I think of that morning show or what the station has come to represent in more recent years, the "Dueling Banjos" starts ringing in my head.

Rob, Arnie, and Dawn are so out of touch with reality you just have to consider the source.

And Mister States should take the time to ask any law enforcement official just what action could and most likely be taken if he ever did beat his son with one of his own shoes. But now we know how thinned skinned he really is. What an idiot.

Entercom should fire this guy for being so willing to Advocate Violence Against Children Over The Public Airwaves! The last time I heard this type of comment didn't go over so well with the law enforcement establishment or our elected public officials either!

Parents all over the world have to face this problem with their children everyday and the problem doesn't just go away simply by beating them with their own shoes. Hey Arnie take the time to get truely informed about this problem. It isn't a choice by any stretch of the imagination, it is very deeply rooted in these children and the proof is in the fact that they stand up and face the problem head on and admit their desire to live in whichever gender role they choose whether Mister States likes it or not! These children have more courage than Mister States will ever have. Hey Entercom fire this moron!

Say it with me, kids. "SPRING BOOK".

They got all the attention they wanted. They created their own press, and it didn't cost a dime. Most cost effective advertising yet.

Congrats in advance on the Arbitron win.

So lets see Tyler, you think advocating violence against children over the public airwaves is O. K. and should be employed to get ratings for a radio station? You are one sick individual.

These guys sound like they are in touch with how most people would react. Was it over the top? Yes.

DailyKos is hardly the source of mainstream thought.

One doesn't need a primer on transgender or transsexual history in order to appreciate the awesome brutality of the KRXQ shock-jocks' diatribe. All one needs is to know a child, any child. They're small, they're vulnerable, and their world is populated with gods whose divinity is derived solely from their adulthood and perceived authority.

AWESOME BRUTALITY. Awesome.

I'm sick of Political Correctness being shoved down Everyone's throat! ::) Am also tired of the Gay,Lesbian,Bisexual and Transgender label being applied to groups(Like some groups of Children) where it may not necessarily apply. ::)

The morning show on this station is not representative of anything except the type of parent who would certainly lose custody of their children when I was doing Child Welfare. Threating to beat your child over the air should at least garner a fine and a suspension. I don't give a "rats ass" if this is political correct censorship. If these nimrods actually have children, they should be investigated. As a counselor (ret) I know that children who are GLBT or perceived as such can have a miserable childhood without love , safety, and kindness. This show should be charged with advocating child abuse and if I owned Entercom, they would have been yanked off the air and fired that day. Radio owners fire loads of people all the time who didn't do anything improper. It takes a lot for me to say a sydicated show like Tesh is better than local programming, but in this case wall to wall music would be better. It's still not to late to fire these idiots !

Anybody who thinks this behavior is awesome might be a threat themselves to children.

I ain't done. I see this station is some kind of Classic Rock/ Mainstream Rock station cleverly billing itself as 98ROCK ( how origional) I wonder if Dawn is cool with the D******DS she shares the studio. I also wonder what these clowns feel about Rock acts that have long hair and might wear make-up. Except for his hair which is very long, I'd think they would be "ALL TED NUGENT ALL THE TIME". Did they flip out when Axl Rose did a duet with Elton John? Just pull da plug on this disgusting act. VT in Elvis Duran

If I lived in the area, I'd instigate a sponsor boycott

Would it work as good as you Q 105 BS?

Just because you don't like what they say doesn't mean they need the law cracking down on them. They said NOTHING that would warrant am investigation, firing or all this outrage. Give it a rest.

I will give you props for saying you are all for political censorship, usually people just skirt the issue you flat out say you want it.

Excuse me..for you and the above posts....your all out of reality. I hope you all sleep with one. The 3 jocks have the right to speak their mind. It's called entertainment!

1) The Q 105 boycott did not work, but thanks for remembering. Marvin Boone is a class act who got fired just to cut costs. Jack Miller got bumped to part-time for Tom Kent off the bird.

2) I remember that the I-Man got fired for expressing his opinion. BTLS got fired I guess for who remembers. Bob Dayton was fired from WABC for making a joke on Hiroshima Day, The Mix 100.7 night jock was fired for the F word, Howard Stern was fired from DC-101 for calling Air Florida and asking for the cost of a one-way ticket from Washington National Airport to the Fourteenth St. Bridge. I think threatening to beat your own child on your own radio show___ is up there with all those and not even as archly darkly arch as Stern-----------just stoopid.

3) No retractions here.

I may not know anything about radio compared to most of you, but I spent 30 years in Child Welfare and this is not amusing to me.

Well you need to lighten up.

No one but a bunch of uptight people like you were offended.

Just so I have this straight....

Arnie jokes about beating his kid if he shows up in heels...

That's considered horrible right?

But:

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
- Before He Cheats

And...

Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
They tasted all right to me Earl
You're feeling weak
Why don't you lay down
and sleep Earl
Ain't it dark
Wrapped up in that tarp Earl
- Goodbye Earl

Both get multiple awards? Including Grammys.

I just want to make sure I have this right. It's OK to advocate vigilante justice and destruction in song. In fact society rewards songs glorifying it.

But Arnie's the bad guy?

You may not agree with the sentiment. But, until Arnie actually beats his kid with a shoe, his only "crime" is espousing his comedy in what many consider poor taste.

If only people were as angry at the clergy...or those who've actually done horrible things to children.

Think we might need a little realistic focus.

What Paul said:

That is all. There are no laws against bad taste, nor should there be. Just shut it off if you don't like it.

1) Boys do wears high heels . We usually call them cowboy boots, Arnie. I guess you'all north of Mill Valley ain't never seen them

Sorry if I got all riled up. Turn it off is the best idea. I always do that. I have never heard a complete episode of Stern, BTLS, or the I-Man. This stuff bores me anyway. In spite of my political views, I prefer totally gentle and apolitical jocks playing soft AC like Bill Bevins on WTVR in Richmond VA or Chad and Kristi on WWRM in Tampa. When I was in San Jose, I listened to KBLX and the other AC's from San Francisco. I prefer Delilah or Tesh ( Gag) to these shock dudes.

However there is now a movement to petition Entercom for an on the air retraction.( I have nothing to do with this). Since this stuff made the national news, I think that this station is probably expecting this. Firing aside, it would be good if they had a child psychologist on the show to help them see how hurtful these statements actually were to people who are down already. Children who aren't gender conforming can experience extreme bullying by their peers. There is a high suicide attempt rate. They don't need more bullying from adults on the radio.

I'm done with this.
