KRZ'S 25th ANNIVERSARY

Have to tell you that in my opinion, KRZ's 25th anniversary
was a bonanza of memories for radio fans. The sheer number of
people who passed through the KRZ doors is mind boggling. (At
least to me, one who's mind is easily boggled).
I thought the retrospective on Shadoe Steele's Saturday
Night Live At The Oldies was a weekly treat. He covered
everything and everybody, even going so far as including the
AM station, WKRZ AM, 1340. The show from what I understand
took up over 60 CDS and a half a year of programming on
Shadoe's program. Word on the street is that it is being
nominated for an Associated Press Award.
The reunion interviews were revealing too. Gave you an
insight into the people who built KRZ as a market force,
stayed on there, or moved on to other pursuits.
It seems just like yesterday when I saw guys like Tommy
Sommers putting together a turntable at the South Franklin
Street building. I was working in an office at 14 South
Franklin Street at the time, we were on the fourth floor and
could look directly down into the window of the studio
next door. From those humble beginings started KRZ FM.
I hope the next 25 is just as interesting.
