KSAP - Port Arthur

If you really want to read a funny article, here's one. http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/news/local/low-powered_radio_station_located_in_port_arthur_city_hall_seeks_to_grow__new_home_08-03-2008.html

In it, this low power FM station is magically going to obtain a government grant for $100,000 which 'will allow the station to upgrade to a 10,000-watt transmitter that he said could carry its signal from downtown Port Arthur to as far away as Dallas'. There's so much wrong with this article, I'm beginning to think that the use of crack cocaine in Port Arthur must be really high.

Poor fools, no FM station liscenced by the FCC has the ability to cover that much distance.

Besides, how certain is he that the FCC will approve his proposition. Let alone, get the 100,000 dollars.

I will give him props for using the station for the right intentions (giving the youth experience, addressing community issues, etc), but the guy is nuts.

We've had a field day (and an opportunity) for the Golden Triangle news media (what's left of it) to cover the loss of KRCM to The Woodlands, KOLE being sold and then suddenly realizing they were losing their studio building and going off the air, and KSAP being transformed from a low power FM to an ultra high power FM capable of reaching Dallas. You would think someone at the newspaper could do some research - there doesn't seem to be a BS detector at either local newspaper now.
