KSAT Pilot hit with Laser Pointer

Is pointing a laser at an aircraft considered an act of aggression akin to shooting bullets at it?

Yes. A laser can blind a pilot, and make him unable to see. If they are flying under VFRs, that could be lethal.

Would seem that with all the tech we have today that it would be easy to devise an aircraft anti-laser system that would lock onto the laser's position and fire whatever ammunition would be considered appropriate in a civil society...paintballs from 5000 ft?

In many jurisdictions the penalties for pointing a laser at ANYONE are the same as pointing a loaded weapon!!
Folks "playing" with lasers have learned this the hard way.....!
