KSAZ

I didn't want to sully John Dayl's memorial post on the Phx board, but found this interesting from former KFNX/Phx and now KSAZ GM Mike Barna.

At KFNX it was a pleasure to call John Dayl up and get him back on the air BEFORE....the budget for on air talent turned into "HOW MUCH WILL THEY PAY US TO DO A SHOW".

Apparently Mike has yet to turn on his own station weekdays at 9am to realize that he is playing the role of the pot.

And most of Saturday mornings, too, except for Dancin' Dan at 6
(currently not heard all over Arizona--power up at 7 in November)
and Ted Ramirez' music show at 10.

....for what it's worth, they (who ever is in charge of programming) should have left well enough alone. Dans program has (had) an audience! For his program re-assigned to a different time, pretty much reduced his audience to .....well, you can take it from there. :'(

The Barnazation of KSAZ seems to have appeared in the ratings as well. I have yet to see the latest book, but a quick glance at 12+ shows quite a decline. Getting beat by the 1,000 watt daytimer on the south side of town... yikes!

Speaking of KGVY Green Valley, the KTKT tribute site infers that
1080 morning guy Dan Gates has exited: "...was on the air more
than fifty years, most recently at KGVY in Green Valley."
