KSBJ???

Man... thought I'd listen to KSBJ a bit this week to kinda help lift the spirit... and... it really doesn't sound like the same station that I've been listening to off and on for the last 12 or so years. None of the on air folks are working the slots they've had for a while (Haven't heard Duane Allen on late nights... is he still there???). I know in a previous thread the current stunting has been discussed, but all the changes makes me wonder if they are flipping or just re-tooling? Any thoughts?

I don't know why the default mode is to always tone down the tempo and trend softer. As KSBJ is, or was, forget a 30 day challenge. I get sick of the boring music after 3 songs. If they are going to trend even softer, well it won't make any difference to me. It isn't the station that Buddy Holiday founded and I supported all those years ago. But it may make a huge difference to those who just tolerated the praise and worship format they had - or have - whatever. It sure isn't listener driven like the hugely successful WPOZ in Orlando. Now THAT is a station worth supporting, and I have been. Streaming in car and sending them money, because they are what a CCM station ought to be. Of course I'm streaming their hip-hop and rock, and when in Orlando I'll be on 95.9 and I think they just put rock on 106.3.

I am praying maybe they are just regrouping to put some life back into their station, step the tempo way up, make it something worth listening to and supporting. I get so sick of the whole attitude that "slower Christian music is more spiritual". Someone ought to be reading Psalm 33 and Psalm 150, and reading about how David danced and leaped for joy when the ark was returning to the temple - and the wife who criticized his excitement for the Lord was struck barren. To me, worship and praise is filled with excitement, it should quicken the heartbeat, raise enthusiasm, empower the mind to receive the good things God is about to give. It is not head hung, sorrowful, quiet, downtrodden, etc.

I was done with KSBJ years ago when I visited Houston to see relatives. Gone were creative things like the Rock of Love. The Christian oldies show, songs with some life to then. Instead the praise and worship garbage that obvious a lot of people like because it rates high, but it sure doesn't bless me. If Jesus is perpetually 33 years old - he is in the 18-34 ratings bracket - I seriously doubt that "God Listens".

I enjoy listening to K-Love and Air one when I am at home, I like them better than KSBJ. Its to bad they don't have a K-love around the area.
