KSBJ's Sugar Land translator

I just noticed on the FCC's Daily Digest: KSBJ called an audible on this one and, guess what, it kinda makes sense. Having been on 99.7 and oops, forgetting to file for renewal a while back, the translator resurfaced and was going to go to 99.9, er, make that 99.5...wait 99.9. Okay, that'll work, right? Apparently not. Now they're going to move all the way down to 89.1, coincidentally one notch below KSBJ, and this time it'll be non-directional. Looks kind of of similar to what Rice did several years ago with KTRU 91.7, putting an on-campus translator on 91.5 since the distance from the main transmitter caused issues with dorm reception.

Seems like with KSBJ now running HD, the splatter is going to kill any signal on 89.1. And, on any given morning, you can hear the 89.1 out of San Antonio coming into that area. This really a poor engineering move.

I think the poorest move that the FCC did was move 97.7 to McQueeney. To me that is way to close to The box, but I guess I'm not a pro at it of gudging reception.
