KSBU 92.7 FM / Vicksburg now on the air

Hey all -

I heard KSBU 92.7 FM (Vicksburg) broadcasting test tones this afternoon. The signal even comes in marginally well in Jackson, considering that the tower is in Tallulah, LA. I know that the new operator will do well with it.

What will be the format? BTW, wasn't their a translator around springridge road in Jackson on 92.7 that rebroadcast a lousianna station. Someone said that it was bought by the owners of US96.3/Y-101/ that might be a translator for AM 780 but I haven't heard anymore about it. And I haven't heard the station in a while. Wouldn't that be a conflict with the station in Tallulah?

There was a station on 92.7, but it didn't stick around long. New South did buy it with the intention of moving it to 92.9. I'm not sure when it will come back on the air.

They would have to move it way north because it would be obliterated by 92.9 in Hazelhurst. On some days Hazelhurst can be picked up in Jackson, especially south of I-20.

It would make since to move it north or even to some other frequency. But, since the New South station is an LPFM, it's not protected from interference from stations on the same frequency.

Format is Urban AC.

It does get out good from our Tallullah location. We have a beautiful Nautel transmitter. I am floored by it's IP interface and the built in Optimod 5500.

Had some early kinks with satellite programming, but it should be quite consistent now.
