KSCF STA to lower power

Due to planned modifications to the Soledad site, the CBS outlet will use a temporary 2kw antenna site near La Jolla Shores beach.Expect severe
signal drop in all areas.

Well with their numbers they dont need much to reach their audience. They would be better off with putting a really good Tejano format on the station if they wanted to make money with it LOL.

I guess that KSON, too, should change to a "Tejano format" since the two are tied in 25-54 listeners in the last book.

Of course, I suspect you are jesting about the Tejano option, as Tejano is pretty much dead in "Tejas," the only place it was truly successful long in the past.

When and how long will KSCF utilize their Special Temporary Authority?

I noticed KSCF's HD was off for a few days this week, but it's back on again. I think Sophie is starting to sound pretty good. I think they got a new MD (the guy from Santa Barbara). Sophie, Alice, and Fresh (NY) appear to be strong Hot AC stations for CBS Radio.

The STA expires 9-13-11. They need to do tower work, and will be on the aux. site while thats being done. Since you (ncountysurf) are
interested in IBOC, did you notice that KBRT is 10khz audio again; and KSPN seems to have turned off their IBOC. Maybe you could check 'em out
since you may be a lot closer to 710 than I am.

In Carlsbad, no sign of IBOC on 710 KSPN or 740 KBRT. I had to drive to LAX yesterday, and I checked them out again up there. No HD signal at this time. KSCF's HD signal is off again as well. I don't think they're at reduced power yet though, but I'm not sure...

If 710/740's change is permanent,I think that only leaves KFI/KFWB/KNX/KMZT as Strubles' remaining A.M. IBOC soldiers in L.A.
My guess about Sophies downtime will be weekend(s) to minimize listener impact. This condition makes a good argument for having an Aux. site
for the station. As it is, Sophie is one of four Soledad FM's without a backup site.
