KSCS Lineup Changes

KSCS changed their lineup a couple weeks ago and I just now noticed it. Dominica is out, Billy Kinder to Middays and Stubie Doak from the production room back to the control room for afternoons.

I thought Bill Kinder was serviceable in afternoon drive. Not sure how he'll do in mid-days.

I personally didn't care for Stubie when he did PM Drive at Young Country, but it's been 7 years, I'll give him another chance.

I agree with Bluescreen. Stubie is a BIG mistake for afternoon or anytime. Sloppy on air, rambles on and on, very unprepared sounding, just basically annopying. He will get old REAL quick. But he is the "darling" of ABC on Lamar.

Big mistake taking a female off middays just like they did at The Wolf. Big mistake taking kinder off afternoons. Big mistake putting that Yo Yo on at night.

BIGGEST mistake was hiring the current pd several months ago.

Prediction:

The mediocre country war continues with the Wolf at 3.5 and KSCS at 3.0 next book with more corny imaging. Can country radio in Dallas get any more worse. I say bring back Brian Phillips and get the Wolf back on track and hire a PROVEN ratings COUNTRY winner for KSCS.

If it weren't for Dorsey KSCS would be in the 2s.

I understand what you're saying about Brian Philips and how he helped the Wolf, BUT...when he came to Dallas, he couldn't tell you if George Strait was a country singer or the UPS man. What he DID know was marketing. He convinced the ever-so-cheap-but-we-don't-care-because-we're-still-making-money-management at Susquehanna to cough up some of that fortune they made being the #3 country for all those years. He put the Wolf on the map with MONEY, which made the company LOTS MORE MONEY. A pretty simple philosophy that still works in any business, but when you have people in power positions who can't figure that out, you go from what the Wolf and KSCS was...to what they are today. Just plain awful. Especially KSCS. What in the world happened? I'm sure what keeps Dorsey coming in every morning is his fat paycheck, because he has GOT to be wondering the same thing. The midday girl out didn't really shock me. Kinder was just sort of "there"....so moving him to her shift doesn't really matter, but Stubie in afternoons? Yes, he did well on Young Country years ago, but they were so strong that a rubber chicken would have had great numbers in ANY daypart. On KSCS he sounds like he's completely lost. No energy, slow, unprepared. But who knows, his numbers could go through the roof and my opinion is totally off base. (it wouldn't be the first time). I just wish SOMEBODY would let the jocks loose in this town again. It's been a long time gang. An occasional sweeper is fine, but let's take the "P.D." sign off of the imaging guy's door and have some fun around here again. It might be too late but it's certainly worth a try. With the numbers that country racked up last book they've got nuthin' to lose.

You're correct about BP. Damn good Marketer and Programmer as far as putting together a great presntation on the dial. Put Young Country and The Wolf side by side...NO CONTEST. Wolf blows them away. The ORIGINAL Wolf. Man i just can't believe what they put on at night in this city these days.

You are so right about Stubie on KSCS but he sounded that way on Young Country too. Slow, Sloppy, unprepared. I'm sure Stubie is a nice guy but when will radio get back to hiring people with life! Yes Stubies numbers might go up initially but believe you me they will bottom out worse than ever in time.

Ahhh. Didn't know this had already happened, and here I was, being quiet for nothing. Ha! I'm no fan of Stubie's political affiliations, but he's an absolute whiz at production, and I always enjoyed him when he was jocking at KQZY and Star 105 in the late 80s and early 90s. He did some fill-in on the WBAP weekend morning news recently, and sounded good there. I guess only time will tell on his career with KSCS.

Stubie's vocation is production, nothing else. If yo uare goingto put him on the air,its better to have him do overnights because of his style.

Yeah KSCS-THe WOLF had a nice battle going on and sounded good..back then. Now the suits are in control from board room where "country " is just another "brand".
