KSCS - Sweeper

D

doubly danger

Guest
I was driving around 5:15 on Sunday morning and heard a sweeper on KSCS to the likes of something like this:

"DFW has been missing this...we can't say any more our lawyers adviced us not to"

Anyway, I though this was interesting - possible format flip? And if so what came to mind as "missed" was smooth jazz.

in the words of the great hitzges, "now, THAT's a tease."

But oh well, it's probably something about getting younger talent (as in KYNG before KLLI ruined that frequency) in "country" music on-air.

KSCS flipping?...... HAH! ;D

No, but what about the Twister? A few weeks ago I fired off a letter to Citadel Corporate pointing out that The Wolf was really no threat to KSCS and instead of wasting a frequency (96.7) when you have a great country stattion at 96.3 why not gring back Smooth Jazz to DFW and puy it on 96.7. Citadel has a top 5 smooth jazz station in Washington DC... It may be nothing and if it materializes I may have had nothing to do with it... I am just throwing it out there as a possibility.

However, IF it does materialize, Salem, Buc, Sno, Bass, Rover and the rest of the jazz votaries will buy you lunch during a happy hour, at which we will create a "TalkTalk" pinata and beat the crap out of it for KOAI hatin' while DE is cooking his books trying feverishly to figure out how a failed format made it back in Big D.

WHEEEEE. ;D

Unless I'm sorely misinformed, (ping DE) the Wolf consistently outbills KSCS, withmuch better ratings in the 25-54 demo.
So when you say that they are 'no threat', how exactly do you figure that? Based on what?

And Bob lablah said it without saying it. Little Miss Trailer Park is returning from Sedona...

"You and Me, Amy B on 96.3" Has a nice ring to it... Lawyers waiting for that non compete to expire... Kinder now to nights???

I think she will hold her own against the likes of Jeremy and Mark Phillips... yawn!

Word is at abc radio networks Amy B will be on KSCS. ABC Networks just signed Amy B to a contract for syndication.

Nahhhh, not me. I have bigger problems to worry about right now. ;)

Wow Amy B coming back to DFW via her studio in Arridzona. That should bring tarrant and Dallas county to a screeching halt.

I think it is going to be smooth jazz, because that's the only format people been complaining about when the Oasis went away.

I just heard it - (and you don't realize how painful it was for me to have to listen to country music just to hear a sweeper!)... Just a booming voice saying "Something has been missing from radio in Dallas/Fort Worth - Our lawyers have advised us not to say anything..." What is that? No "stay tuned" or anything. There a A LOT of things that have been missing. ::)

Whatever it is... and mark my words, it is probably MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING... the marketing is brilliant. ;D

Why would you want one of the longest running formats in DFW left to flip. It has and always will do good ratings. you talk about smooth jazz as being the next coming, if this was the case how come it failed in the first place and I believe it has failed more than once. There are lots of stations in DFW that could use a bit of fresh air.. but KSCS is for sure not one of them.

Hispanic, talk and Jazz belong on the am dial period.

I don't think that anyone is anticipating a KSCS flip. I believe the speculation was for KTYS (sister station). The reason for running the sweeper on KSCS is so people will actually hear it.

Talk, yes.

Jazz, I've well been chronicled on that. Although AM Jazz does it better (props to my nourishing mother, UNT), there is a definite FM need and spot for Jazz, when done properly (unlike here).

Hispanic? That is lunacy... you stopped to consider what state you live in again? Oh yeah, and we are only the FOURTH minority-majority state in the union (along with Hawaii, California and New Mexico). One other thing, what do two of those aforementioned states have in common? That's right? AN FM HISPANIC STATION.

So, uh, check those books next time you surmise a quick-witted response like that. DE, hit it. :D

and jeff, i think you is right on with this.

Sheesh don't bring ** into this, the air was starting to be more breathable. KSCS is bringing in a familar voice known to the area. They will not flip. C'mon Citadel ain't that far gone, though they are working on it.
