KSCS is now called "New Country", whole new website. No DJ's for now.

We talked about what would happen between KSCS and KPLX. One would have to differentiate itself.

Could this be a sign the Citadel-Cumulus merger is about to go down?

The Dorsey Gang - Terry Dorsey · Hawkeye · Rebecca · Brother Van ...
Well this stinks. I listen to them every morning and detected they were missing this AM.

There are still Dorsey Gang podcasts available on the site so I predict they'll return

Is Allan Peck gone too?

Interesting. I saw that they had changed their website yesterday. But hadn't tuned in.

I searched for any mention of a change at KSCS on the DMN and Unfair Park blogs and found no entries yet. Granted, Wilonsky's probably still asleep.

The only semi explanation was posted on FB by a KSCS staffer, saying Dorsey and Hawkeye were taking a couple of days off.. Now we know that is a little suspect at best... so something is a-foot...

How long has Terry Dorsey been on KSCS? He also was on Dayton, OH. radio stations WING-AM and WGTZ-FM with his partner at the time, John King, back in the 70s and 80s.

So they're relaunching with The Twister's format? That redux of 'Young Country' brought SO much success to ABC...why not spin it again? ::)

[/sarcasm]

Better yet, why don't they reimage the only "heritage" country station left in DFW and leave the format alone? You can't expect success to continue endlessly when you cut people like Bill Kinder loose, and gut many of the dayparts as well in the name of voicetracking and cheaper "talent." I'm no country fan, but I've always perceived that country listeners are more about "their station" than they are about "their music." Screw with that bond, and you lose listeners. I was stuck in a restaurant for lunch a few weeks back that was running KSCS full-blast on the overhead speakers. Honestly, it was vanilla. No strong jock or any real interaction going on, and the best the station could do for a promotion was to give away $100 in a contest sponsored by M&M's or some candy brand.

THIS is the type of station that could make the 'KVIL model of old' work. Top talent in each daypart. Big focus on community events and the comraderie you get with 'hey, didja see that billboard on Central and Mockingbird?' stuff. Solid and crap-less (if that's even possible) music mix. REAL contests. Be that listener's personal "buddy." Talk directly TO that person. Build trust. Jeremy Robinson can (could?) do this well, but I always got the impression that he's the property of the "homework crowd" and not to the 25-44 demo. Since Jeremy's national now, I'm sure it's all generic these days (a la Kraddick.) I don't know.

And no offense to those I know who work there...I'm just making my own personal observations, and I'm no regular listener.

My first thoughts also Mike:)

Just so you know, Jeremy has been dropped by KSCS. I listen to a lot of DFW Radio and agree with a lot of what you said. I had the listener's buddy effect while I was in Chicago with a station up there. We all went to events, remotes and eventually got into a lot of cool concerts by being "with the station" so to speak.

We'll see how this pans out...

Re: KSCS... the genius of "big market" Citadel

KSCS was moving very current two years ago, and moved the needle very well. Then the Citadel small market thinkers think that they have to put their stamp on the big market ABC heritage and of course without any thought...turn it old.... because all old is great radio. The Scott Shannon effect. So now after two years of growing old...my God, how much Sammy Kershaw and Diamond Rio, Little Texas can you hear in 2010?...they decide to blow up and go current????? All NEW music promos and then play "Here for the Party: by Gretchen right after it. God...these guys are good!!!! Citadel belongs in markets 50n and below, they have no business in top 10. Its not Dorsey...its the MUSIC!!!!!

I'm wandering if this is a stunt, also wandering if KSCS will change to their HD station "The Twister"?

Honestly this is starting to sound like "the twister" of old.My feelings but I just remember it and as to now, there is not much difference.
